Classical Pearls Classical Pearls Herbal Formulas™ are unique Chinese herbal formulations designed for the treatmen

OUR APPROACH IS SIMPLE

We manage the sourcing, production and formulation of the highest quality ingredients into unique and potent formulations based on the classical medical texts, and fine-tuned to treat modern patients suffering from the complex diseases of our times. Herbal medicine was once the only modality to cure serious diseases. Today, the intricate alchemical principles and the experience based approach of traditional herbal science has become overshadowed by laboratory parameters—often to the detriment of clinical results. It is the mission of Classical Pearls to launch a return to the classical and clinic-based roots of Chinese herbal medicine. A RETURN TO THE CLINICAL POWER OF OUR ROOTS

Classical Pearls is proud to be part of an international movement that seeks to honor and restore the classical origins of Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is a highly sophisticated science and deeply spiritual art form. We believe in trusting what history has taught us – that Chinese herbal formulation is based on simple foundational principles that are often ignored or misunderstood in the construct of modern TCM education. With our formulas and the core educational concepts behind them, our goal is to preserve the true clinical power and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine. OUR FORMULAS HAVE EVOLVED FROM CLASSICAL MEDICAL TEXTS

Each of our remedies incorporates principles of classical formula design synthesized from the ancient texts of Oriental medicine and a variety of classical lineage approaches. Based on over two decades of clinical experience, tightly structured classical formulas have been combined and fine-tuned to the modern diseases of our time. It is our sincere hope that the study and use of the Classical Pearls series of products can help Oriental medicine practitioners increase their clinical efficacy and gain a better understanding of the time-honored principles of alchemical wisdom that are gradually being forgotten.

It's and this week were highlighting Counterflow pearls ❤️❤️

The design of Counterflow Pearls is based on the classical remedy Xuanfu Daizhe Tang (Inula and Hematite Decoction), which first appeared in Zhang Zhongjing’s 2nd century herb primer, Treatise on Disorders Caused by Cold (Shanghan lun). Similar to its better known sister remedy, Banxia Xiexin Tang, it can restore counterflow of Stomach qi. Due to the particular affinity of inula flower to the Heart—the ancient herb text The Decoction Classic (Tangye jing) classified inula as a substance representing “fire within fire”—it is best suited to address the unique relationship of Heart and Stomach, which in cases of chronic reversal of Stomach qi can result in more serious pathology.

The addition of the more recent remedies Yiguan Jian (Linking Decoction) and Danshen Yin (Salvia Drink) also makes it suitable for patients suffering from pain in the chest or solar plexus region. Together, the herbs in this formula represent one of the more moistening combinations in the Classical Pearl series, and can treat a wide variety of disorders that require the tonification of yin in the Stomach, Lung, Heart and/or Liver networks.

This is an ancient yet accessible medicine anyone can learn—and begin using right away.

The Three Treasures Daoist Moxibustion Method uses deep, sustained moxa heat according to a precise three-step protocol rooted in the He Tu and Luo Shu, two of the oldest diagrams in Chinese cosmology.
This is not simply warming the surface. The method is designed to bring penetrating warmth deep into the tissues and vessels, encouraging the movement of qi and blood where there has been long-held stagnation.
And you do not need to be a Chinese medicine practitioner to learn it.

Our 4-session Online Series begins on 10/10 just in a few days, offering a deep introduction to the theory, principles, and treatment framework of the Method. For those who wish to learn its hands-on application with more guidance, we also offer Zoom or in-person Practicums.

The training program is presented by ClassicalChineseMedicine.org and taught by Dr. Kelly Jennings and Dr. Heiner Fruehauf.

There is still time to join us.

Known for its distinctive red root, Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) has held an important place in the Chinese materia medica for centuries.

Traditionally associated with invigorating the Blood and supporting healthy circulation, Danshen is an herb whose quality begins long before it reaches the dispensary.

For Classical Pearls, sourcing means paying close attention to the details that distinguish a strong medicinal herb: correct species identification, appropriate growing conditions, careful harvesting and processing, and the characteristic color, aroma, and integrity of the finished root.

The deep reddish-brown exterior of well-prepared Danshen reflects the very name of the herb—dan, 丹, referring to its rich red color.

From soil to finished formula, thoughtful sourcing is an essential part of preserving the character and traditional function of the herbs we work with.

The Three Treasures Daoist Moxibustion Method is slow, precise work that goes where other medicine stops.

With this method, we work with Yang Qi — the fire of the Sun, captured in aged mugwort and directed with intention into the deep waters of the body, into the stagnation that has been sitting there for years.

This is the most precise and most penetrating Moxa technique you can learn. It is folk medicine that you can bring home and use for your family, friends, and the people in your life who need care.

Dr. Heiner Fruehauf and Dr. Kelly Jennings brought this method back directly from China and are offering it as a complete 2-part training program this October and November.

🔥 Online Series: October 10, 17, 24, 31 — Four Saturdays 8-10am Pacific Time
🔥 Practicum: Nov 7-8 (hybrid: Zoom + in-person, Corbett) and Nov 12-13 (in-person, Corbett)
🔥 Questions: [email protected]

The Online Series stands on its own and will also be recorded. The Practicum is for those who want to go further.

We look forward to sharing time and this medicine with you. Link in Bio.

Shui Zhi, One of the more unusual substances in the Chinese materia medica, Shui Zhi is the dried medicinal leech—a potent traditional ingredient with a long history of use in formulas addressing deeply rooted patterns of blood stasis.

Its strong nature means that quality and proper sourcing matter enormously. Each raw material used by Classical Pearls is selected with careful attention to identity, processing, purity, and consistency before it ever becomes part of a finished formula.

Ingredients like Shui Zhi are also a reminder of the remarkable breadth of the classical Chinese pharmacopeia, which draws upon the plant, mineral, and animal kingdoms according to the specific qualities each substance contributes.

From source to finished formula, our commitment remains the same: authentic materials, careful preparation, and respect for the medicine as it has been practiced for generations.

Wildfire season has been affecting the Pacific Northwest for a while now, and with it comes smoke, dryness, and an added burden on the respiratory system.

In Chinese medicine, the Lungs are especially sensitive to environmental influences—particularly dryness and irritants in the air. During smoky periods, supporting healthy Lung function, moisture, and the body’s natural defenses can be an important part of seasonal care.

For this edition of Our Favorites, we’re sharing a few Classical Pearls formulas our practitioners often turn to when supporting respiratory health through challenging air conditions.

As always, herbal formulas are best selected according to the individual pattern. Consult with a qualified practitioner to determine what is appropriate for you.

Save this post for smoky season. 🌿
