Dinner is the other soak.

The focus on this trip is bathing, of course, but the table matters just as much.

Every evening, after a day spent soaking, exploring, and moving through the Icelandic landscape, we gather around a candlelit table for meals made from scratch by our private chef, Abbey, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Every allergy and dietary need handled without a second thought. Abbey finds the challenge fun, not annoying.

Food isn’t a break from the experience here.
It’s part of the rhythm: heat, cold, rest, and then a full table to come home to. That’s where the stories come out. That’s where strangers start to feel like people you actually know.

We get to experience the best of both worlds, a private chef PLUS a dinner out in Reykjavik, a lunch in the remote highlands of Porsmork and a lunch inside a geothermally heated greenhouse, tomato vines growing all around us.

Bathing resets the body. The table resets everything else.

For the last few years, Howl at the Moon has been gathering people around wood-fired heat at homes, at the beach, and in the woods in West Michigan.

But, what happens when we experience bathing culture in the places where these traditions have been practiced for generations?

The answer is shaping the next generation of Howl at the Moon.

We’re expanding beyond the backyard, and following the traditions that inspired everything we do.

This November, we’ll host our first Icelandic Bathing Expedition, inviting a small group to experience geothermal lagoons, sauna rituals, shared meals, and the slower rhythm of a culture built around gathering.

West Michigan will always be home. But as we continue exploring the world’s great bathing cultures, our purpose remains the same: to create opportunities for people to gather around warmth, water, and meaningful connection.

Because we believe the future isn’t built by moving faster.

It’s built by inspiring a slower more connected way of living.

One of the most fascinating things about sauna, is how simple it is.

Heat, cold, rest, repeat.
It’s elemental, primitive, even.

And yet it has so many tangents.

The science of a good build.
The gathering and social side of it.
The culture and ritual behind it, layers deep depending on where you look.

But the tangent I’ve been following most lately is the science of it.

And let me tell you, it’s WILD.

How’s summer?

Let’s just say I’ve been busy waking up early with the sun, lighting the Firefly Sauna first thing, hanging with my crew, getting hot, jumping off the dock and feeling all wrung out in the best way possible.

Not all summer days can be this good, but def taking as many of these Slow Girl Summer days as possible.

Hope your summer’s finding its own version of slow.

This November, you’re invited to join me on an Icelandic bathing adventure of a lifetime.

There are many ways to ‘see’ Iceland, but rather than checking off the sites, we’re soaking our way through Icelandic bathing culture.

This is the Iceland Bathing Expedition, the first of its kind where we swim, soak and play in the geothermal waters in southern Iceland. From geothermal lagoons, to wild hot springs, mobile saunas and uniquely Icelandic ‘Gusa’ sauna rituals- we’ll experience it all.

The best part? We’ve got it handled so you don’t have to.
✅ Our home base on a private lake
✅ All meals included, by our private chef
✅ Saunas, soaks and rituals all taken care of

You just show up and get in. If this is the kind of adventure that you’ve been looking for, come join us!

Not every gathering changes us. But the ones we enter with intention often do. When we create space to slow down, to be present, and to meet one another without distraction, something remarkable happens.

We exchange ideas. We tell stories. We challenge one another. We laugh. We remember what it feels like to be seen in a shared space.

Gathering has always been one of humanity’s greatest strengths. It’s how we build trust, pass along wisdom, imagine new possibilities, and create and strengthen communities.

In fact, the freedom to gather is considered so fundamental that throughout history, it’s often been one of the first freedoms restricted when those in power seek greater control. That’s how powerful simply coming together can be.

That’s what Howl at the Moon Sauna Co. exists to cultivate…. sauna experiences, yes. But also new ways of being together. Places where we can practice presence, connection, and our shared humanity. Places where the conversation matters just as much as the heat and the cold.

More opportunities to gather are coming soon. Stay tuned. 🌕🐺

The beach sessions are wrapped, the fireworks are long gone, and I’m officially easing into my own version of slow girl summer.

That means more time by the water and more rounds in with the Wildflower at home. A lot of people assume summer isn’t sauna season, but I’d argue it might be one of the most beautiful times to do it.

The key is water, cold water especially, whether that’s a lake, a river, or just the hose in the backyard. At my house it’s a mix of all of it: the Wildflower running hot, kids darting through the hose in between rounds, and some days the tent sauna brought lakeside when we want that version instead.

Hope your summer’s finding its own version of slow. ✌🏽
