Today is National Heat Awareness Day — and for school nurses finishing out the year with field days, outdoor events, and recess in full swing, this one hits close to home. ☀️
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can escalate quickly. Know the signs:
🔴 Heat Exhaustion: heavy sweating, cool/pale/clammy skin, fast/weak pulse, nausea, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness
🔴 Heat Stroke: high body temp (103°F+), hot/red/dry skin, rapid/strong pulse, confusion, possible unconsciousness — call 911 immediately
