Root'd Moment:
Today, my MiniMe used the chair that I'd set up the day before. It's here for anyone who comes in and just needs a moment to reset before stepping back out into the world.
Little did she realize that she needed a reset herself after being told that she couldn't use my work phone to play on at the time lol.
Before I knew it, she'd sat in the chair, arms folded (as you see) and frowning. Classic toddler protest. But I smiled, instantly throwing her off lol.
I said, "Well baby, you say right where you needed. That chair is there to help you reset when things just don't feel right. "
I saw her look over at me and a slight smile hit the corner of her lips.
I then said, "It says to 'sit for 3 minutes before you re-enter the world.' So maybe you can use that time to find your calm place. "
She looked at me, eyes softening. And she sat. Arms still folded. But by the end of the 3 minutes she was more relaxed and settled into the chair. I told her she could get up, and when she did she was back to her usual sunshine self.
Unknowingly, my MiniMe showed me that this small gesture of giving someone space to breathe was the right move, especially in today's climate.
When you walk into Root'd, just know I am here to support your "wonky days". Sometimes we all just need a moment to reset before re-entering the world. 🌿
