Poppies!! One of my favorite flowers to grow. And they are in bloom - perfect timing for the Memorial Day holiday we just celebrated in remembrance and in honor of those who have fallen for this country.

I placed them at my altar at home - here are a few more associations with poppies:

Metaphysical association:
• Sleep and dreams. Sacred to Hypnos and Morpheus in Greek tradition. Associated with the liminal space between waking and the unconscious.
• Remembrance. Red poppies have carried this across cultures for centuries. They mark what has passed and honor it.
• The veil. Poppies are linked to thin places, where the visible and invisible worlds meet.
• Vitality and solar energy. Orange and red poppies connect to life force, creative fire, and activation.
• Impermanence. They bloom fast and drop without warning. A reminder that presence is the point.

The colors! The pattern!!! The way it radiates from the center like it knows exactly what it is doing. It looks like a butterfly wing to me. I can’t stop looking at it.

Nature is freaking amazing. 🤩

This is what I mean when I say the Sacred is everywhere.

You do not have to go anywhere or take a pilgrimage to a sacred place to be in the presence of the Divine. It is right here.

I remember my aunt singing this song (terribly, mind you!!) She’s gone now. Her last words to me were, “you are exactly where you should be- stay true to who you are.” Looking back at pictures just from 5 years past, 5 of my closest contacts have left their bodies. They all had a similar outlook on life and lived life to the fullest. I recall this today and have them on my mind. I loved them all and I am reminded to LIVE in the present. “Today is where your book begins… the rest is still unwritten.” Love life and love your dear ones fiercely. Love all the imperfections, theirs and yours. Nothing is set in stone- if you don’t like something, change it. If you are sad, place yourself around those who lift you up. If you’re aspiring to do something, start today. If you don’t know where to begin, it’s okay just move your body and start there. Or just sit with the confusion and discomfort so you can see that there’s magic in even THAT energy. Yeah, life sucks sometimes. But don’t forget all the good things that happen too!!
And there are good people out there. Just like the ones I mentioned.
