In What Appears to be Divine Providence, a Crucifix in Indiana Remained Standing after a devastating storm tore through Chicagoland and northwest Indiana on Thursday night, June 11, 2026, unleashing fierce winds, heavy rain, and widespread destruction.
Trees were uprooted, power lines downed, and many homes and properties were severely impacted — yet amid the wreckage, one powerful symbol stood completely untouched: the large crucifix of Jesus on the cross at Andrean Catholic High School in Merrillville, Indiana.
Scripture tells us: “The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25)
This powerful image is a beautiful sign of God’s presence and providence — a reminder that no matter what storms we face in life (natural disasters, personal trials, or spiritual battles), when we build our lives on Christ the Rock, we will stand firm.
Let us pray for everyone affected by the storm: for safety, comfort, swift recovery, and peace. May Our Lord bring healing and restoration to all families and communities in the area. ❤️
🙏 Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You calmed the storm with a single word. Calm the storms in our lives and shelter us always beneath the shadow of Your Holy Cross. Amen.
