Last Wednesday was our Almost Summer League finals! We pitted the top 8 seeds from the last 6 weeks against each other in a PAPA style group elimination bracket! We played 3 games in the semi finals round with the top 2 players from each group moving into the top 4 final for another 3 games.
Group 1:
S1- Sean T 🏆

Group 2:
S2- Matthew W 🏆
S3- Adam F
S6- Lynn S 🏆

In the final three games played on Pulp Fiction, Iron Maiden, and Twilight Zone is was Matthew W who sweeped the competition locking up 3 wins and securing his Grand Champion trophy for almost Summer League. The rest of the group was playing for second as all players were tied with 2 points entering the final game on Twilight Zone! After ball three drain is was Lynn S taking home the 2nd place trophy, followed by Sean T in 3rd and Chris R in 4th. In pure Matthew fashion he secured not only a win on twilight zone just from his ball 1 score but he also proceeded to put up 1.4 billion on Iron Maiden on the side while we all sweated and white knuckled our way to finish the rest of our game on twilight zone. 6 weeks of qualifying are in the books and we are gearing up for our A and B finals event next Wednesday 6/17 at 7pm.

Those in the top 8 are going to be playing a group elimination bracket style tournament to see who will be taking home the Almost Summer League Champions trophy. Top 4 players will walk away with a trophy and bragging rights. Players outside the top 8, don’t worry I have a B finals tournament set up just for you! You will be playing 5 rounds of standard Matchplay on the night.

Here is the weekly recap from week 6. We hosted a large group of 23 players on the night and welcomed 2 new players Welcome Nate and Jon! The top flippers of the evening were as such. Leading the pack with 31 points on the night goes to Matthew W. Close in 2nd we had Sean T who ended with 29 points. In 3rd was Brett V who ended his night with 25 points! And rounding out the top flippers group we had a tie between Hannah C, John H, and Bryan R who all ended their nights with 23 points a piece! Great flipping job everyone!

June Pinball Schedule at Backyard Arcade!

5 weeks down with 1 week to go to qualify for our Almost Summer League finals being held on 6/17 at 7pm. Remember all you need is 3 of 6 events to be eligible to play in the finals!

Last night we had 14 players in attendance for a quick 5 game night. Coming out as our top flipper of the evening was John B who ended his night with a nice 32 points to add to his total! Charlie W was sitting in second place on the night with 26 points! Tied for 3rd we had Adam F and Lynn S who both ended with 25 points on their nights! Rounding out the top flipper group we had Matthew W who ended with 21 points and Joe B right on Matthew’s heels ending with 20 points on the night!

Great job to everyone who came out to play pinball last night. We will run it back next Wednesday, 6/10 at 7pm for our final week of qualifying!

Almost Summer League week 4 has come and gone just like that !🫰 Last night we hosted 17 players for some fun flipping action! It was a quick night as most groups finished up 5 games in a little over an hour!

The top flipper on the night was Adam F who ended his night with a cool 31 points. Close in second was Kristen M who ended with a nice 29 points on the night. Anthony P was pushing that top group ending his nice with a competitive 25 points! And rounding our the top flippers on the evening was Hunter D, Michael M, amd Trofe C who all ended with 23 points!

Great seeing everyone on a Wednesday night! We are back at it next Wednesday, June 3rd at 7pm!

Friendly reminder that all ages, all skill levels, and all player styles are always welcome! Pinball does not discriminate! We are here to have fun and enjoy the social interactions! Stay flipping y’all! See you next week!

Saturday, we hosted 19 players for Beach Bash 22. We had local players and travelers from Raleigh as well as Myrtle Beach join us for some fun flipping action. Pace Matchplay was the tournament format where everyone was guaranteed 10 rounds of play. After 10 rounds the cutoff line was 30 points. Those below 30 points were eliminated. Each consecutive round the cut off would jump up +7 points.

As players were getting eliminated each round we would lose a few here and there! But there was a clear fight for the top position between Matthew S and Matthew W. In third place, was Miles K who had a great day and ended up making it 17 rounds on the day! It took until round 21 to decide our winner was going to be. It was Matthew W who ended up sealing the win over Matthew S on Rush in an impressive 4 game battle between just these two players.

We thank everyone who came out from near and far to play some pinball with us and spend a Saturday playing some pinball!

Almost Summer League week 3 has come and gone just in time for Memorial Day weekend! This week we hosted 15 players on a Wednesday night for some fun pinball action! It also was Ella’s birthday so we got to enjoy some yummy cupcakes! Happy Birthday Ella 🎊

Our top flipper of the evening was Chris R ending his night with 31 points and just being shy of a perfect 35 point night! Michael M was right on Chris’ heels as he ended his night with an impressive 27 points! In third, was Eric S who was welcomed back with a nice pinball night putting up 26 points. And rounding out the top flippers group on the evening was Adam F who ended a nice flipping night with 25 points! Great job everyone and we will be back at in Wednesday 6/27 for week 4!

Reminder‼️ we do have Beach Bash 22 this Saturday at 12pm. $2 entry fee plus coin drop! Also a big reminder to make sure you register for our huge Summer Showdown Pinball weekend via Matchplay if you are interested in playing in any of the 4 tournaments we will be hosting 6/25-6/28. There will be cash prizes, swag giveaways, and the Grand Champion of the Hybrid Best Game tournament will be driving home with a pinball machine!
