A private facility owned and operated by a certified trainer and holder of BSc in exercise physiology. I hold certifications in persontal training, yoga fundamentals, pilates, kettlebell training, and sports nutrition. Also available: yoga/ pilates classes, nutritional consultations, endurance programs, weight loss meal plans, and one on one training. All classes and sessions are by appointment only. 👋Grip strength 👋might seem like a small thing, but it is one of the most powerful indicators of overall health and longevity.

Research has found that lower grip strength is associated with a higher risk of disability, hospitalization, cardiovascular disease, and even early death. In fact, some studies have shown that grip strength can be a stronger predictor of future health outcomes than blood pressure.

Why?

Because grip strength is often a reflection of total-body muscle strength. When muscle strength declines, it can be a sign that overall physical function, mobility, balance, and resilience are declining too.

The study highlighted in your image found that for every 5 kg decrease in grip strength, the risk of all-cause mortality increased by about 16%. Similar patterns were seen for cardiovascular disease and stroke🙌🏻❤️

This doesn’t mean weak hands cause poor health.
