If I had hip pain with running, here’s the approach I’d take:
STEP 1: Isometrics + Pain Control
Manage symptoms while beginning to safely load the hip.
STEP 2: Hip Mobility
Address mobility limitations that may be impacting your stride.
STEP 3: Core Strength + Stability
Build control through the trunk and pelvis.
STEP 4: Compound Strength
Develop overall strength and capacity for the demands of running.
STEP 5: Unilateral Strength + Stability
Progress single-leg strength, balance, and control.
STEP 6: Plyometrics + Return to Run
Reintroduce impact and running-specific demands working toward returning to full training.
The goal is to build the strength, control, and capacity to keep you moving with confidence.
Save this for the next time your hip starts talking back. 🏃♀️🏃♂️
