🚨 BILE DOES WAY MORE THAN DIGEST FAT.
If you think bile is just something your gallbladder releases after eating a greasy meal, you're missing a HUGE piece of the health puzzle.
I spent years looking at gut health, trying probiotics, changing my diet and doing all the things I thought would fix my digestion.
But the body is a connected system. And bile is one of those overlooked pieces that can change the entire conversation.
Here's what bile actually does:
1️⃣ Helps you absorb fats and vitamins A, D, E & K.
2️⃣ Helps regulate your gut microbiome through its antimicrobial effects.
3️⃣ Influences inflammation and immune function through receptors like FXR and TGR5.
4️⃣ Communicates with the brain and participates in neurological signalling.
5️⃣ Helps eliminate cholesterol and move estrogen metabolites into the gut for removal.
6️⃣ Influences thyroid hormone activation through the TGR5-D2 pathway.
7️⃣ Participates in GLP-1 signalling, blood sugar regulation and metabolic health.
8️⃣ Helps maintain the intestinal barrier and gut lining.
Now think about that for a second.
Bile isn't just about whether you can digest your dinner.
It's connected to nutrient absorption, gut bacteria, hormones, inflammation and metabolic signaling.
And when bile production, release or circulation is impaired, the effects can extend well beyond bloating after a meal.
Things like fatty stools, pale stools, greasy floating stools, right-sided abdominal pain after eating, nausea and difficulty tolerating fatty meals deserve attention.
But here's the catch: these symptoms can have several causes. You can't diagnose poor bile flow from symptoms alone.
The body is a health detective's dream. Sometimes the missing piece isn't another supplement or another restrictive diet. It's understanding what's actually happening in the system.
👇 SAVE THIS for the next time someone tells you bile is just about digesting fat.
