WHAT IF STRETCHING DOES MORE THAN MAKE YOU FLEXIBLE?
Emerging research suggests stretching can do more than improve mobility.
In one human study, daily prolonged calf stretching for six weeks resulted in:
→ 15.2% increase in muscle cross-sectional area
→ 16.8% increase in maximal isometric strength
→ 25.1% increase in 1RM strength
Other research suggests higher-volume, higher-intensity stretching may also influence muscle fascicle length, muscle thickness, strength and mobility.
So stretching isn’t simply about “loosening up.”
It can create mechanical tension, influence muscle architecture and support meaningful physical adaptation.
That’s one of the reasons I find Fascia Stretch Therapy so interesting: controlled, supported stretching can be an important part of mobility, recovery and performance.
For people who train hard, mobility work isn’t separate from performance.
It may be part of it.
