What does triage look like across Canadian emergency departments?

A national survey of 1,169 ED staff across 10 provinces and two territories found that while formal CTAS training and electronic decision-support tools are widely used, significant variation remains in triage guidelines, training requirements and practices across Canadian hospitals.

The findings highlight the need for standardized training and implementation strategies to support safe, effective and reliable triage across the country.
