A multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to moringa leaf powder supplements has now reached 119 confirmed cases across 36 states, with 32 hospitalizations.
The FDA and CDC reopened the investigation in May 2026 after 22 new cases emerged.
The recalled products include several over-the-counter brands which were all sold direct-to-consumer.
89% of those interviewed reported consuming a moringa product.
This is the reality of unvetted botanical supply chains that involve imported raw ingredients, minimal traceability, and no finished product testing.
This is a great reminder for both providers and patients on the importance of sourcing supplements from trusted suppliers.
