Celiac disease isn’t just a digestive issue.

It’s an autoimmune condition that can cause nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, bone loss, and neurological symptoms — and it takes an average of 10 years before someone receives a diagnosis.

Naturopathic Doctors take a whole-body approach to supporting those living with Celiac disease through:

✅ Gut healing protocols
✅ Nutritional repletion
✅ Inflammation management
✅ Personalized dietary guidance
✅ Addressing root causes — not just symptoms

If you suspect gluten is affecting your health, you don’t have to figure it out alone. An ND can help you get answers and build a plan that works for your body.

💚 May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month — share this with someone who needs to see it.

From Parliament Hill to Queen’s Park, OAND is advocating for the future of naturopathic medicine in Canada.

Earlier this month, OAND collaborated with the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors on Parliament Hill to meet with MPs and discuss important priorities for the future of our profession.

This year, British Columbia officially recognized Naturopathic Medicine Week through a provincial proclamation — an exciting step forward for NDs and the patients we serve.

Now, we’re continuing that momentum here in Ontario through advocacy, relationship-building, and ongoing conversations with government leaders.

The future is hopeful, and OAND remains committed to advancing recognition, visibility, and support for Ontario NDs.

Recognition matters. Advocacy matters. And together, we continue moving the profession forward.

Women’s health is more than reproductive health — it’s cardiovascular health, bone density, mental wellness, thyroid function, autoimmune conditions, and so much more. 54% of women in Ontario report the health system does not meet their needs.

Naturopathic Doctors offer something different: unhurried appointments, whole-person assessment, and care that takes your concerns seriously.

This Women’s Health Week, we want to hear from you. What health concern has felt dismissed or overlooked?

Naturopathic Doctors don’t work in isolation. NDs often work alongside Medical Doctors, Nurse Practitioners and other health care providers.

Whether you’re seeing a family physician, a specialist, a nurse practitioner, or a mental health professional, your ND is trained to collaborate and communicate as part of your circle of care. We fill in the gaps, spend time on prevention, and look at the factors that other appointments don’t always have time to address.

Integrative care isn’t about choosing one type of healthcare over another. It’s about making sure you have the right support at every level.

Ontario’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, the Honourable Sylvia Jones (), shared a message with Ontario’s Naturopathic Doctors during Naturopathic Medicine Week, recognizing the important care they provide to patients and their contribution within Ontario’s health system.

OAND is pleased to share this message with our members and is grateful for this acknowledgment of the profession.

Conversations with government continue to evolve, and engagement with stakeholders across the health system is steadily growing. The Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors remains committed to advancing a collaborative, preventative, and patient-centred approach to care, on behalf of Ontario’s Naturopathic Doctors.

One of the most common misconceptions about naturopathic medicine is it is not scientific or evidence-based.

The truth? Naturopathic Doctors are accredited and trained in the same foundational biomedical sciences as other healthcare providers — anatomy, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. The therapies we use, from clinical nutrition and botanical medicine to acupuncture and lifestyle counselling, are supported by a growing body of peer-reviewed research.

NDs don’t choose between science and a whole-person approach. We integrate both. That’s what makes naturopathic medicine a valuable part of modern healthcare.
