I used to think "getting in shape" meant suffering.

Early mornings. Bland food. Workouts that left me hating myself by Tuesday.

At 67, I've learned something different.

Movement doesn't have to be punishment. It can actually be... fun. Which sounds ridiculous until you try it.

I started with a 15-minute walk after dinner. Just that. No gym bag. No plan. Just me and the neighbourhood.

Then I added some light resistance bands while watching the news. Then a Saturday morning pickleball game with a neighbour I barely knew.

Six months later I had more energy than I did at 52.

Here's what I'd tell any guy or woman in their 50s or 60s who feels like their body has given up on them — it hasn't. It's just waiting for you to stop making fitness feel like a penalty.

Dance in your kitchen. Walk the dog an extra block. Try something embarrassing and laugh at yourself.

The goal isn't a six-pack. It's feeling alive again.

That's worth showing up for.

I was sitting in a coffee shop the other day, just minding my own business, when I started noticing something interesting.

Two separate tables, different people, but the same kind of conversation.

Talking about rising costs, bills, and then it shifted into looking for something on the side to bring in a little extra.

It wasn’t loud or urgent.
Just quiet, practical conversations.

That’s what stood out to me.

It feels like more people are starting to think this way lately.

Have you been hearing more of these kinds of conversations too?

Thieves. That is what they are. Not hackers, not scammers, not fraudsters — thieves who sit behind a keyboard and try to take what you worked your whole life to build, and yesterday afternoon they came for me.
I spent two hours on the phone with my bank because someone tried to take over my account. And here is what scared me most — they had already changed my email address inside my account before I even knew something was wrong. That is how deep the access was. That is how good these thieves are. And to this day I have no idea how they got my information in the first place, which is the part that keeps you up at night.
They know bank systems better than most bank employees, they send voicemails that sound completely official, and they move fast because hesitation is how they lose and panic is how you lose.
The fraud department caught it. Barely.
What saved me was 2FA doing its job and Bitdefender running quietly in the background doing its job. Two layers of protection and I still spent two hours of my Wednesday afternoon on hold with my heart in my throat.
I am sharing this because I would rather have an uncomfortable conversation now than stay quiet and have one of you go through something worse.
Turn on 2FA. Every account. Every platform. Yes it is inconvenient. So is losing everything you worked for. And look into Bitdefender. It is not expensive and it does not get enough credit.
These thieves are coming for all of us. Make it harder for them.

Had coffee with someone this morning.
Just sat across from another human being and talked. No agenda. Just connection.
It hit me on the drive home how much I have let that slip. How much we all have.
We get busy. We get tired. We tell ourselves we will catch up with people later. Later turns into months. Months turn into years.
I identified a gap yesterday. Went and started filling it this morning. That is the only way anything changes.
If you are feeling that same quiet disconnection — you are not alone. A lot of us are rebuilding that part of life right now.

Monday morning and I’ve got a story for you.
I walked onto a job site in North Carolina once and got introduced to a crew that wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. Arms crossed. Dead eyes. One word answers.
So I stopped trying to be professional and just started being human.
I asked one guy what he did on his days off.
That was it. That was the turn.
Within an hour we were laughing, telling stories, and they were offering to let me jump in a dragline — which is basically a building-sized excavator. I had zero business being in that thing. 😂
Driving back the foreman literally slammed on his brakes in the middle of the road.
“How in the hell did you do that?”
I said — I just talked WITH them instead of AT them.
Ask real questions. Actually listen to the answers. Show people you’re genuinely interested in them as a human being — not just what they can do for you.
That foreman went home and tried it with his wife that night. Four days later he came back bouncing off the walls. Said they’d actually sat down and talked — really talked — for the first time in years.
One simple shift. Massive difference.
Talk WITH people. Not AT them.
Try it today and let me know what happens. 👇

Been thinking a lot about second chapters lately.
Most people don’t fail because they lack ability — they fail because they rush the rebuild.
