As part of our Employment Program, the Job Journey initiative offers free, individualized support for job seekers aged 15+ who identify as having a disability and/or mental health challenge.

We provide personalized support to participants on their employment journey. This can look like: exploring career goals, building workplace skills, developing resumes and cover letters, and preparing for interviews. We also offer paid work experience, which is a great step toward fulfilling employment. Support can continue up to March 2027, with each participant's employment roadmap being tailored to their individual goals.

We also work with employers to build more inclusive workplaces and connect them with a wider pool of talented job seekers.

Inclusive play made possible ☄️

A switch-accessible dodgeball launcher developed by our tech team was delivered recently to Olivia, opening up new opportunities for her to join in on the fun with friends and classmates. The dodgeball launcher helps make games more accessible, support participation, and build connection.

Thank you to TELUS Friendly Future Foundation for supporting innovative creations that aid in making recreation more inclusive for youth. 💚

A huge thank you to this incredible group of capstone students for partnering with CanAssist! 🎉

As part of their BME/ECE 499 Design Project, these students developed the next generation of the EMG (Electromyography) headband which is an assistive technology that detects intentional muscle activity and converts it into a Bluetooth signal.

This tech allows users to control smartphones, tablets, computers, environmental controls, and medical alert systems. Building on a device originally developed by CanAssist over 15 years ago, the team modernized the technology by adding essential connectivity while significantly reducing production costs.

🎸 Ready to ship!

The CanAssist Guitar Strummer is designed to help people with limited or no use of one side of their body play a guitar independently. Using a foot-controlled strumming pedal, participants can strum while using one hand to play chords. This technology makes it possible for everyone to be able to play, create, and share music.
