As we reflect on World Transplant Day, we're reminded that transplantation is about more than medicine. It's about hope, generosity, and second chances.

Today, we recognize the donors, donor families, transplant recipients, healthcare teams, and advocates whose courage, compassion, and dedication make transplantation possible.

While World Transplant Day serves as an important moment of awareness, its message extends far beyond the day on the calendar. The need for organ and tissue donation exists every day of the year. Across Canada, thousands of people continue to wait for a transplant that could save or dramatically improve their lives.

Registering your donation decision is one simple action that can have a live-saving impact. Together, we can help turn this into a second chance at life. 💚

4,344 REASONS TO REGISTER

New national organ donation and transplant data was released yesterday by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).

One number stands out: 4,344

That’s the number of Canadians waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

It’s not just a statistic.

It’s thousands of people waiting for a second chance. Thousands of families hoping for a phone call. Thousands of reasons to talk about organ donation.

While nearly 3,200 life-saving organ transplants were performed in Canada last year, thousands more Canadians are still waiting.

If you’ve been meaning to register your decision, today is a great day to do it. 💚

Take two minutes to visit signupforlife.ca and register your intent to be an organ donor.

Because the call they’re waiting for starts with someone saying yes.
