Shoulder pain can be incredibly frustrating especially when it seems to settle down, only to flare up again a few weeks later.

One of the biggest things I explain to patients is that pain isn’t always where the problem starts. That’s why treating the shoulder alone doesn’t always stop it coming back.

In this carousel, I’ve shared some of the common reasons shoulder pain can become a recurring issue and why looking at the bigger picture matters.

If you’ve been putting up with shoulder pain, hoping it’ll just go away, this one’s for you.

Have a read, and if anything sounds familiar, feel free to drop me a message. 💬

If you’ve ever bent down to pick up a sock and suddenly felt your back ‘go’, you’re not the only one

Although it can feel like that one movement caused the problem, it’s often the result of a build up of factors over time

Repetitive movements, prolonged sitting, stress, poor sleep or changes in activity can all contribute to making your body more sensitive

That simple movement was just the point where your body said, ‘I’ve had enough’

That’s why, when we assess back pain, we don’t just look at the movement that triggered it

We look at the bigger picture to understand what’s really contributing to your symptoms

If your back pain keeps returning or seems to come on ‘out of nowhere’, it may be worth getting it assessed rather than waiting for the next sock! 🧦

🤕 Struggling with migraines or recurring headaches?

Osteopathy can help by addressing musculoskeletal factors that could be contributing to their symptoms.

Tension and restriction in the neck, shoulders, upper back, and jaw can often play a role in triggering or aggravating headaches and migraines.

During an osteopathic assessment, we’ll look at:
✔️ Posture and movement patterns
✔️ Neck and upper back mobility
✔️ Muscle tension and joint restrictions
✔️ Lifestyle factors that may be contributing

Treatment may include hands-on techniques, movement advice, and practical strategies to help reduce tension and improve overall function.

If migraines are impacting your daily life, it may be worth exploring whether musculoskeletal factors are part of the picture.

You don’t need to have back pain to see an osteopath❕

A lot of the people we treat come in with things like:

Recurring headaches / migraines
Shoulder pain
Hip tightness
Sciatica
Sports injuries
Pregnancy aches
Desk posture tension
Ankle pain
Foot pain
Plantar fasciitis
Persistent stiffness that never fully goes away

Because osteopathy is about more than one painful area

It’s about looking at how your body is functioning as a whole 🔁

The body is connected

So sometimes the problem isn’t where you feel the pain

And often, fixing the symptom without addressing the cause is why things keep coming back

Your feet and ankles alone can affect everything further up the chain: knees, hips, posture, even lower back tension

Our job is to figure out what your body is compensating for, what’s not moving well, and help restore better balance and movement

We don’t just treat backs

We treat people 🙋‍♂️

Stretching isn’t just about becoming “more flexible” 👇

When done consistently, mobility and stretching work can help:

✔️ Reduce stiffness and everyday aches
✔️ Improve posture and movement quality
✔️ Ease muscular tension from sitting or stress
✔️ Help prevent little niggles becoming bigger issues
✔️ Improve recovery and how your body feels day-to-day

A lot of people wait until they’re already in pain before they start looking after their body…

But small, consistent habits like stretching can make a huge difference to how you move, feel, and function long term.

Your body is with you for life, look after it 💆‍♂️✨

What actually happens during a dog osteopathy session? 🐾

It’s not just about where the problem shows up, it’s about finding where it starts

During a session, we assess:
– Movement patterns– Joint mobility– Muscle tension– Overall balance in the body

From there, treatment is gentle and tailored to the individual dog, helping to restore comfort and function

Often, small restrictions in the body can have a big impact over time

That’s why early support can make such a difference

If you’re unsure whether your dog would benefit from this, feel free to drop me a message ✉️

Osteopath vs Chiropractor vs Physiotherapist

What’s the actual difference?

A lot of people think they’re all the same, but they each take a slightly different approach when it comes to pain, movement, and recovery.

The truth is, it’s not about which one is “better”

It’s about what’s right for you, your body, and your goals.

Whether you’re dealing with pain, tightness, injury, or just want to move better, understanding your options is key.

If you’re not sure where to start, that’s exactly what we’re here for.

📩 Drop me a message or book in and we’ll figure out the best approach for you.
