Don't do our training if you just want another certificate to hang on your wall.

Don't do our training if you just want to add a few more trauma-informed phrases to your vocabulary.

Don't do our training if you want to spend the next 14 weeks blaming the medical system for everything that's wrong with birth.

Don't do our training if you believe every difficult birth needs to be labelled traumatic.

And definitely don't do our training if you think your job is to rescue women from their birth stories.

DO join us if...

🔥 You understand that birth is a rite of passage. Not simply a medical event to be managed or an outcome to be achieved.

🔥 You're curious about what happens when a woman's birth doesn't go according to plan, even when she did everything "right."

🔥 You're willing to question your own assumptions about birth, trauma, healing and what it actually means to empower someone.

🔥 You recognize that the medical system can cause genuine harm AND that blaming it isn't always the path to healing.

🔥 You want to learn how to sit with someone's story without fixing, rescuing, reassuring or imposing your own beliefs.

🔥 You're ready to go deeper. Into the story. Into the meaning. And perhaps into yourself.

Because Birth Story Medicine isn't about collecting more information.

It's about learning to listen in a way that can change everything.

Our 14-week Birth Story Medicine training begins with Part 1.

For those ready for a more immersive experience, applications are also open for our 28-week apprenticeship.

For many fathers and partners, the birth ends...

But the questions don't.

"I thought I was going to lose you."

"I didn't know what was happening."

"I felt so helpless."

"I've never told anyone how scared I was."

Partners are often expected to stay calm, be strong, support everyone else, and then quietly move on.

But witnessing someone you love go through a frightening birth can leave its own lasting imprint.

Their fear matters.

Their helplessness matters.

Their story matters.

Healing isn't about deciding whose experience was "more traumatic." It's about making space for everyone's experience to be heard without comparison.

That's why we're so pleased to offer Birth Story Sessions for Fathers & Partners.

A dedicated space where their experience matters too.

Where they don't have to minimise it because they weren't the one giving birth.

Where they can finally tell their birth story—in their own words—and discover what meaning they may still be carrying from that day.

Because birth changes partners too.

What’s the difference between preparing to manage your birth and preparing FOR BIRTH? As much as you’d like to - it’s not possible to manage your birth while you’re in it. But you can enter birth aware of the story you are bringing and the meaning you attach to the outcome of your birth. When you begin to decouple who you are from how you give birth you are preparing for the ordeal of birth no matter how it turns out.

The Assumptions We Carry Into Birth

This came up in one of our recent Birth Story Medicine classes.

We all carry assumptions into birth, often without even realizing it.

✨Birth is natural and normal.
✨My body was made to do this.
✨If I prepare well, I'll have a better birth.
✨I'll speak up if something doesn't feel right.
✨I'll cope with the pain.

None of these are necessarily bad beliefs.

But what happens when an assumption quietly becomes an expectation, or an invisible rule about how birth is supposed to be?

Because when birth doesn't follow that rule, we don't always question the assumption.

Sometimes we question ourselves.

💥Why couldn't I cope?
💥Why didn't I speak up?
💥Why didn't my body do what it was supposed to do?

Perhaps part of preparing for birth isn't only asking:

“What do I want?”

But also:

“What am I assuming?”

Because sometimes the seeds of disappointment are planted long before birth begins.

What assumptions did you carry into birth?

The wound that often arises in a Birth Story Medicine session, is one that was seeded long before the birth, and it’s not the mother’s alone. It is collective, deep, generational and societal. She carries it in her back, on her bones and in the story of her birth. When healing comes, change comes. Imagine a world where everyone had the opportunity to tell their story, birth story or any story, and find meaning, healing and the truth of love.

You believed if you prepared the right way, you’d have the right outcome, but no one told you birth beats to its own drum. What if instead of what went wrong you ask, what threshold did I cross? What did this birth show me that I didn’t already know? What is more true now than what I once believed? You didn’t just birth a baby you birthed a new you.

Sometimes, when birth professionals don’t know what to do with the information, they don’t ask. But, you don’t have to fix what happened in the past to make a future birth better. Just knowing you care will build trust and possibly mitigate future trauma.

Moms need experts, but they also need their birth professionals to show compassion, listen well, and be with them in the hard moments. Birth professionals should know who to refer to outside of their area of expertise, but all birth professionals need the skills to provide compassionate care.
