Erin received her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University with a major in psychology. Before she began her journey in graduate school Erin worked at Devereux Cleo Wallace, a residential facility for children and teenagers struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. Erin received her Maters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in 2011. During her

year-long internship with the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) in Denver, Erin did individual therapy, groups and workshops with survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones. Erin is passionate about working with survivors of sexual assault to uncover their personal strength, love for themselves and life. She has found that a grounded sense of hope and a safe atmosphere are essential to starting, continuing and deepening the healing journey.

Link in bio to Substack 🧡 “What a question for the ages huh? Put simply, I think of being spiritually embodied as our spirit taking up space in our physical body. The opposite of this would be dissociation from the body; where our spirit is spending significant time outside the physical body. Between these two is a spectrum.”

New Substack about comfort. Link in bio to Substack.

“Feeling discomfort points us in the direction of those places inside ourselves that need help. The places inside that don’t feel quite right. That are not aligned with our heart or are longing to come into alignment with our heart.”

I believe it is important to directly discuss spiritual bypassing so that people are aware this can happen and does happen.

New Year, new writing. I've created a Substack page where I'll be posting on the intersections of healing, embodiment and equity for all. Check out my introduction post and my first content post about Embodied Spirituality.

And where are we if we aren't embodied? Where do we go?

Please sign this petition whether you are a mental health practitioner in the US or not. The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (the licensing agency for mental health practitioners in Texas) is proposing language changes to make the requirements broader for cultural diversity or competency. This could lead to licensees being able to opt out of continuing education in diversity. This seems to be in step with the federal move to halt & dismantle DEI initiatives throughout the country. As a licensed counselor in Colorado I am enraged. Please do sign this petition, write letters and put any and all pressure you can, as a part of the collective that is standing up to Texas right now. The mental health system in this country is not perfect and has many, many flaws. It's a struggle to work within such a broken system at times. But I won't just not do anything to try and work for regulations that demand practitioners in this field have competency helping those that are intentionally marginalized.

On this Thanksgiving day I tune into an indigenous voice Joy Harjo. I mourn the indigenous lives lost in the genocide & colonization of the Americas. Many thanks to the ancestors & original stewards of this land. May we open our hearts to their wisdom.

Join me for the next Open Conversation on Decolonizing Therapy. This time around I will give a little more space for diving into material brought up by participants; to give a taste of what my consultation group can look like.

What is decolonizing therapy? Decolonizing therapy is many more things than I can address here, but in short here are my ideas. It is the understanding and dismantling of ways the field of psychology has been influenced by colonization and all the systems that uphold and go along with colonization ( racism, homophobia, classism, etc). It is the metabolizing of wounds and nervous system responses we have from oppression (whether our ancestors were oppressed or the oppressors, both were affected negatively by colonization).

All mental health practitioners are welcome in this conversation even if:
You aren’t sure if this topic applies to you (trust me, it applies to all beings on this planet at this time)
You feel embarrassed because you are interested but don’t feel you know enough about the topic to ask questions
Are just starting to understand what de-colonizing therapy means
You have been studying this for a long time and are in a group that has been systematically disenfranchised

Join me Sept. 16th for a monthly consultation group through a de-colonizing therapy lens.

What is decolonizing therapy and why would someone want to join a group that comes from this lens? Decolonizing therapy is many more things than I can address here, but in short here are my ideas. It is the understanding and dismantling of ways the field of psychology has been influenced by colonization and all the systems that uphold and go along with colonization ( racism, homophobia, classism, etc). It is the metabolizing of wounds and nervous system responses we have from oppression (whether our ancestors were oppressed or the oppressors, both were affected negatively by colonization).

Difficult nervous system responses, thoughts, emotions and interactions will come up in this group. And you will be held with care, in community, and safety. That’s why the group closes for four months at a time to allow the container to be built. At four months, the group will open again for members to leave and new members to join. Curious if this group might be for you? Contact me to chat about it. Notice your nervous system response to this information….there’s no wrong response.

Please email if you are interested in an online cohort.
