THA has wrapped up its 2026 Regional State Advocacy Forums, bringing hospital leaders together across East, West, and Middle Tennessee to share what they are seeing in their communities and help shape THA’s advocacy priorities for the year ahead.

The input gathered through these conversations will help guide THA’s advocacy and strengthen a unified voice for Tennessee hospitals. Thank you to all of our members who joined us and contributed their perspectives.

Congratulations to the inaugural NexGen: Tennessee Hospital Executive Internship cohort! 🎉

After spending 12 weeks embedded with executive teams at hospitals and health systems across Tennessee, our nine NexGen interns returned to THA for Presentation Day to share the projects they supported during their internships and reflect on what they learned along the way. We are proud of all that this cohort accomplished this summer and grateful to the preceptors and host hospitals who made these experiences possible.

Happy National Intern Day! 🎉 Today, we're celebrating our NexGen: Tennessee Hospital Executive Internship interns, who are wrapping up their summer experiences at hospitals across Tennessee.

We're proud of this inaugural NexGen cohort and grateful to the hospitals and preceptors who made this experience possible, some of whom were THA interns themselves.

THA kicked off its first Regional State Advocacy Forum last week at Tennova Healthcare - Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. These forums give hospital leaders a direct opportunity to share what's happening in their communities, helping shape THA's 2027 legislative priorities and strengthen a unified voice for Tennessee hospitals.

Last week, THA honored Representative Michele Carringer (R-Knoxville) as a 2026 THA Hospital Hero in recognition of her dedication to Tennessee hospitals and her commitment to advancing healthcare across the state.

The THA Hospital Hero Award recognizes lawmakers who champion policies that strengthen hospitals and improve the health and well-being of Tennesseans. Rep. Carringer received the award during a presentation at Parkwest Medical Center, joined by hospital and THA leadership.

"Rep. Carringer has been a strong partner for healthcare and for the people of East Tennessee," said Jim VanderSteeg, president and CEO of Covenant Health. "She cares deeply about her community, and that comes through in her willingness to listen, ask good questions and work toward solutions that make a difference for patients. We're grateful for her support and proud to see her receive this recognition."

Intern Spotlight: Meet Julia Martin, a member of the inaugural NexGen: Tennessee Hospital Executive Internship cohort.

Julia is pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a healthcare concentration at Belmont University and is spending the summer with TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center as part of her NexGen internship experience.

Last week, THA honored Representative Bryan Terry (R-Murfreesboro) as a 2026 THA Hospital Hero in recognition of his dedication to Tennessee hospitals and his commitment to advancing healthcare across the state.

The THA Hospital Hero Award recognizes lawmakers who champion policies that strengthen hospitals and improve the health and well-being of Tennesseans. Rep. Terry received the award during a presentation at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, joined by hospital and THA leadership.

"Representative Bryan Terry has dedicated his career to serving patients, both as a physician and as a public servant," said Daphne David, CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. "His leadership, deep understanding of healthcare and commitment to strengthening access to high-quality care have made a meaningful difference for hospitals and communities across Tennessee.
