Starting Memorial Day weekend, come celebrate the spirit of the ’60s at the New York Botanical Garden's "Flower Power" exhibition, where the symbolism of flowers as icons of peace and love comes to life through art, music, drumming, and a rainbow of blooms!

Feng Shui Long Island provides wellness services and events that complement the environmental healing of your home and work space. May is International Drum Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. We have been teaming up with local libraries, non-profit organizations, health living boutiques, and community centers to provide wellness programs and experiences. We'd love for you to join! Some of our wellness events are sponsored (free to attend), while others require a fee.

You're invited to join us in a lively, fun, and engaging drum circle experience focused on well-being through expressive rhythmic drumming! All drums and smaller percussion instruments are provided. If you have your own favourite hand percussion instrument, feel free to bring it.

No prior drumming experience is necessary. All are welcome! This is another great event to support your emotional and mental health!

Happy Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you! Yoda is one of many uplifting visual themes in my household, inspired by the mindset of Feng Shui :)

Easy Feng Shui Tip for Modern-day Living:

Always be aware of your surroundings. Observe the subtle cues in how items, artwork, colors, patterns, textures, and photos could influence your mindset. We aim for uplifting cues. It's also important to note that environmental factors (i.e., light, sound, smell, the home's layout) play a role in cultivating a harmonious home as well. As we blend the teachings of Feng Shui with modern-day living, part of the formula for a happy home is cultivating a living environment that visually reflects your intentions (focuses), values, morals, interests, and personality. Being consciously connected to your home matters.

Remember, there is a lot more to the practice of Feng Shui than what has just been mentioned. However, this is a practical and accessible way to begin shifting your perspective.

Happy World Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd)! In honor of today, I've written an article that provides Feng Shui tips on how to establish a harmonious bedroom environment for autistic children. I overlap the principles of Feng Shui with Biophilic Design, Neurodivergent Design, and Environmental Psychology to offer tangible tips. The suggestions are from firsthand experience working with my clients, who are special education teachers and parents of neurodivergent children.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in the annual TOBAY Beach Dune Day, which was a hands-on environmental initiative to help stabilize beach dunes by planting dune grass. I really enjoyed this and found it to be extremely meditative and calming. It was also great to observe families, friends, coworkers, and individuals gather and steward the land.

After planting my bundle of dun grass, I continued my day's journey by visiting the Robert Moses State Park and trekked to the Fire Island Lighthouse, which is always a treat :)

Happy New Year of the 2026 Fire Horse! Gong Hei Fat Choy! Wishing you all great happiness, health, and prosperity!

Fun Insight: According to the solar calendar, the Fire Horse began on February 4th, 2026.

What's the difference between the lunar and solar calendars? The lunar calendar is based on the cycles of the moon, while the solar calendar is based on the agricultural or farmer’s (Hsia) calendar, which marks the hours, days, and minutes it takes the Earth to complete an entire orbit around the sun. To further expand upon this, there is also the lunisolar calendar, which combines monthly lunar cycles with the solar year.

The practice of Feng Shui utilizes the lunisolar calendar to track the flying stars of a home (building astrology - identifying the natal chart, annual and monthly changes), Bazi charts (personal astrology), determining auspicious dates (Date Selection), and implementing adjustments.

The lunar new year of the fire horse is upon us, beginning February 17th, 2026. Now is the time to prepare yourself and home for the new energy that is rapidly approaching.

Part of that preparation begins with becoming aware of what the Fire Horse has in store for this year. It's said to be a beneficial year for the arts, music, entertainment, beauty, and sports. Fire element can offer an optimistic feeling, with drawbacks of quick tempers, impulsiveness, and taking action without careful planning.

People may have more confidence to spend money on necessities, extracurricular activities and enjoyments, such as with travel. There is a lot of talk about 2026 being an intense year in the form of strong transformation, truthfulness, and not being afraid to release what no longer serves you. To better navigate this type of intensity, it’s recommended to be clear with your focuses so you can better direct the energy of 2026 to help define what thrives.
