Our student Beatrice is on an amazing trip through Africa and other countries. I wanted to share this experience from her as I was so moved by it:
"We passed thru the Doors of No Return and I felt the pain of my ancestors as well as their pride in my successful return as a "free black woman". I shared a beautiful and magical moment when a white woman approached & hugged me. She began to pray in a language I didn’t understand. It might have been Fulani, Wolof or Twi. The gesture was so powerful it overcame any language barriers. A prayer always sounds like a prayer. It evoked such a calmness and I was immediately comforted. Our humanity is in desperate need of more love and prayer regardless of language or denomination. That lady was not on my tour. I had no idea who she was or where she came from. One minute she as there and then she wasn't. Perhaps she was an angel..."
May we all have moments of grace like Beatrice experienced.
