The August Monthly Health Screening at Roots of Faith in Sharpsburg took place last week. These events are supported each year by a grant from St. Margaret Foundation and this would not be possible without our generous donors. This month, the highlights were:

-fresh produce bags were provided to each participant.
-32 participants entered the prize drawing, with one lucky winner receiving a $25 gift card to Harvest on Main Community Market
-28 blood pressure screenings
-11 Ask the Doctor interactions with Dr. Dolan Edinboro, addressing questions related to pulmonary nodules, reflux symptoms, when to see a P*P for GI concerns, dietary modifications to reduce gout symptoms, and symptoms associated with low blood pressure
-28 participants engaged in a Sepsis Awareness Plinko activity
-28 participants participated in the interactive Knowing When to Get Help Family Feud activity
-18 participants connected with Tracie Santicola at the UPMC for Life information table

The Communication Van was also onsite, bringing valuable audiology services directly to the community:
-6 individuals were fit with hearing aids
-3 hearing tests were performed

Thank you again to our donors and thank you to the many volunteers who make these essential events possible.

Grant Highlight: In 2026, the Board of St. Margaret Foundation provided funding to revitalize an essential space on the rehabilitation unit called the Activities of Daily Life (or ADL) room. Located on 4A, this space is used to practice basic skills that patients in this unit often need to re-learn after procedures in order to be safely discharged. New cabinets, fresh floors, and a new practice window allow patients to build essential skills in a welcoming and productive environment.

Thank you to our incredible donors for making grants like this possible. We could not do this without you.
