May is skin cancer awareness month.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., but it’s also one of the most preventable and treatable when caught early.

What to know:
☀️UV exposure (from the sun and tanning beds) is the leading cause
☀️Anyone can get skin cancer, regardless of skin tone
☀️Early detection dramatically improves outcome

What to do:
🧴Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and reapply every 2 hours
👕Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses
☀️Avoid peak sun hours (10am–4pm)
🔎Perform monthly skin self-checks using the ABCDEs of melanoma
📆Schedule a yearly full-body skin exam
