On this Juneteenth, and conceived in reflection of the Semiquincentennial, the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a collective of individuals came together in remembrance and responsibility to imagine and affirm a freer, more just world.
Influenced by the Harlem Renaissance Manifesto, the Declaration of Liberation is both a statement and a call to action.
Rooted in Richmond, Virginia. Driven by service. Inspired by our ancestors. Founded by organizations and individuals committed to seeing our city and its people thrive.
The Declaration affirms a simple yet profound belief: freedom is more than the absence of oppression, it is the presence of dignity, belonging, opportunity, healing, and self-determination.
Today, we invite you not only to read the Declaration of Liberation, but to sign on as an individual or organization committed to bringing its vision to life through action.
Read. Reflect. Sign. Act.
