Healthi Kids Healthi Kids is a grassroots community coalition and an initiative of Common Ground Health.

The Healthi Kids Coalition embraces kids and families at the center of all decision making. Together we advocate policies, systems and environmental changes that nurture the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of kids from birth to age 8. We do this by focusing on policies that promote healthy habit building and healthy relationships, create safe and secure environments and psychological safety, and cultivate skills and competencies of adults who care for children.

Strong communities start with strong relationships.

Research shows that positive early relationships play a critical role in lifelong mental health and well-being. Through Love From the Start, Healthi Kids helps parents, caregivers, and communities understand how everyday interactions can support healthy child development.

Recently, we hosted an Infant Toddler Play Day in Greece, bringing together families for hands-on activities that encouraged connection, learning, and play. Events like these help translate research into practical strategies parents and caregivers can use every day.

The little moments matter.

From sharing a smile to reading a favorite book together, early relationships help build the foundation for a child’s lifelong mental health and well-being. That's the inspiration behind our Love From the Start campaign.

Recently, about 15 families joined us in Greece for an Infant Toddler Play Day, where children explored, played, and learned alongside their parents and caregivers. It was a chance to connect, have fun, and discover simple ways to support healthy development through everyday interactions.

Parenting comes with hard days, wrong turns, and plenty of learning along the way. Babies don’t need caregivers to get everything right. They need consistent love, care, and opportunities to reconnect.

Responsive relationships help lay the foundation for infant and early childhood mental health.

Phew! We did it! You did it! Together, over three days, we built a great new place to play at West High Field in the 19th Ward. You can see what we started with--pretty much a blank slate. And while most of the playground is complete there are still some final touches that need to be finished before this amazing, inclusive playspace opens on October 24th.

Special thanks to KABOOM! and the City of Rochester for your partnership. This build was also supported by Davenport-Hatch Foundation, ESL Federal Credit Union, Kindling Impact Foundation, M&T Bank, Wegmans, and the William & Sheila Konar Foundation. Let's give everyone a big round of applause

These are just a handful of photos to give you a sense of the transformation--and community spirit!
