🌙 ASK AST | Frequently Asked Questions

💰 “Do you offer financing options?”

Cost is an important part of making healthcare decisions, and we understand that patients want to know what they may be responsible for before moving forward with treatment.

At Advanced Sleep Treatment, our goal is to help minimize out-of-pocket costs whenever possible and help you better understand your individual insurance benefits.

One important thing to know: because sleep apnea is a medical condition, Oral Appliance Therapy for sleep apnea is billed through medical insurance—not dental insurance.

🏥 We accept most medical insurance plans, including Medicare.
📋 Coverage varies depending on your individual plan.
💙 During your complimentary consultation, our team will review your anticipated financial responsibility based on your insurance benefits and applicable costs.

You don’t have to navigate the financial side of treatment alone. We’re here to help you understand your options.

🧠🌙 While you sleep, your brain isn’t simply “turned off.” It’s doing important work.

Sleep supports processes involved in brain housekeeping and metabolic waste clearance, including activity associated with the glymphatic system. Researchers are also continuing to study the relationship between sleep, sleep disruption, and proteins such as amyloid-beta and tau.

But here’s an important question:

Are you getting truly restorative sleep—or are you simply spending enough hours in bed?

For people with obstructive sleep apnea, repeated breathing interruptions can disrupt sleep throughout the night—sometimes without the person realizing it.

Pay attention to signs such as:

💤 Loud, frequent snoring
😮‍💨 Gasping or choking during sleep
⏸️ Witnessed pauses in breathing
🥱 Excessive daytime sleepiness
🤕 Morning headaches

Your sleep matters to more than your energy. It matters to your overall health.

If you or someone you love is experiencing possible signs of sleep apnea, speak with a qualified healthcare provider about appropriate evaluation and treatment options.

💙 Already diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and interested in learning about treatment options? Our team at Advanced Sleep Treatment can help you explore whether Oral Appliance Therapy may be appropriate for you.

You went to bed… but did your body actually get the rest it needed? 🌙

Obstructive sleep apnea can affect much more than how many hours you spend in bed.

Repeated breathing interruptions during sleep can fragment your rest and contribute to drops in blood oxygen. Sleep apnea is also associated with important cardiovascular health concerns—and its effects may follow you into the next day through fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and morning headaches.

The important message? Don’t normalize consistently poor sleep or ignore possible signs of sleep apnea.

If you’re concerned about your sleep, talk with a qualified healthcare provider about appropriate evaluation.

Already diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and exploring your treatment options? Advanced Sleep Treatment can help you learn whether Oral Appliance Therapy may be appropriate for you.

🌙 What happens while you’re asleep may be noticed by someone else first.

Sleep apnea symptoms can happen when you’re completely unaware of them. A spouse or partner may be the first to notice frequent snoring, gasping or choking, pauses in breathing, or restless sleep.

That’s why comments like “You were snoring really loudly,” or “It sounded like you stopped breathing for a moment” may be worth paying attention to.

If someone close to you has mentioned concerns about your breathing or snoring during sleep, don’t ignore the conversation. It may be an important reason to speak with a qualified healthcare provider about whether further evaluation is appropriate.

💙 At Advanced Sleep Treatment, we help patients explore treatment options for obstructive sleep apnea, including Oral Appliance Therapy when clinically appropriate.

🌙 MONDAY SLEEP RESET: Tired already… and it’s only Monday?

A new week has begun—but if you’re waking up exhausted, fighting through brain fog, reaching for caffeine all day, or hearing complaints about loud snoring, it may be worth paying closer attention to your sleep.

Because spending enough hours in bed doesn’t always mean you’re getting restorative sleep.

Symptoms such as loud snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing, gasping during sleep, and persistent daytime tiredness can be associated with sleep-disordered breathing, including obstructive sleep apnea.

💙 At Advanced Sleep Treatment, we believe better days can begin with better nights.

Monday check-in: How are you feeling today—refreshed, a little tired, or already exhausted? Tell us in the comments. 👇

🌙 SUNDAY WELLNESS | Beyond the Office: Dr. Tomenko in Kazakhstan

Some of our patients may have noticed that Dr. Ekaterina Tomenko, DDS was away from the office for part of the past few weeks.

Today, we wanted to share a little glimpse of where she was—and a side of Dr. Tomenko that our patients may not always get to see. 💙

Dr. Tomenko traveled to Kazakhstan, where she joined a mission alongside a group of volunteers, including young people who came together with a shared spirit of service.

Their days weren’t spent simply sightseeing. They rolled up their sleeves and worked.

From helping dig space for a septic system and building walls to gardening, assisting with household responsibilities, and contributing to ongoing improvements at the sanitarium, the experience was rooted in something simple but powerful: serving where help was needed.

Even through the summer heat, the group continued working together—learning, connecting, and contributing to a place that has served its community for many years.

For us, sharing this isn't about medicine or dentistry.

It's about showing you a little more of the person behind Advanced Sleep Treatment and Tomenko Family Dentistry.

Dr. Tomenko's work at Advanced Sleep Treatment is centered on helping people improve their health and quality of life. And beyond the office, that same commitment to service continues in other meaningful ways.

This Sunday, perhaps wellness can mean something more than taking care of ourselves.

Sometimes wellness is purpose.
Sometimes it is community.
Sometimes it is getting our hands dirty and helping someone else.
And sometimes, giving our time to others reminds us of what truly matters. 🌿

Welcome back, Dr. Tomenko. 💙

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into her Kazakhstan Mission 2026.

PROVIDER FAQ 🌙 | What should I send with my patient's referral?

At Advanced Sleep Treatment, we value collaboration with the physicians and healthcare professionals who entrust their patients to our care.

One question we frequently receive from referring offices is:

“I am a referring physician. What do I need to provide for my patient?”

As a specialty practice, we require clinical documentation related to the patient's sleep concerns and diagnosis. When referring a patient for Oral Appliance Therapy, please provide:

📄 1. Referral Note or Letter of Medical Necessity
Indicating the need for Oral Appliance Therapy.

🩺 2. Initial Evaluation Notes
Documentation of the patient's initial evaluation for snoring and/or obstructive sleep apnea concerns.

🌙 3. Sleep Study
A copy of the patient's diagnostic sleep study.

📋 4. Follow-Up Visit Notes
Documentation from the follow-up visit during which the sleep study findings were reviewed and discussed with the patient.

Having these records available helps our team coordinate the patient's care and provides the clinical documentation needed as we work through applicable insurance requirements.

💙 To our referring providers: thank you for trusting Advanced Sleep Treatment with your patients.

Have a patient who may benefit from Oral Appliance Therapy? Our team is happy to assist your office with the referral process.
