What Causes Severe Morning Sickness?

Many women expect some nausea during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. But for some women, morning sickness goes far beyond occasional queasiness. Severe nausea and vomiting can make it difficult to eat, drink, work, care for family, or get through daily life.

If you are struggling with intense pregnancy-related nausea, you are not alone. Understanding what causes severe morning sickness and when to seek help can make a difficult situation feel a little less overwhelming.

A major step forward for survivor safety in Florida. House Bill 277 is now law.

Among a number of important changes:

🔹 Stronger penalties for repeat offenders
🔹 Increased relocation support for survivors
🔹 Expanded evidence considered for protection orders, including histories of animal abuse and military disciplinary records

At CASA, this progress strengthens our ability to support survivors as they seek safety, stability, and a path forward. Every step like this brings us closer to a community where survivors are protected, heard, and empowered.

Kick counts are one of the simplest ways to keep track of your baby’s well-being during the third trimester.

As your baby grows, you’ll start noticing their unique movement patterns. Paying attention to those movements can help you recognize if something feels “off” and when it may be time to call your provider.

One of the best ways to do kick counts:
✨ Choose a time when your baby is usually active
✨ Sit or lie on your side in a quiet place
✨ Count movements until you reach 10 kicks, rolls, flutters, or stretches

Most babies will move 10 times within 2 hours, but many do it much faster!

If you notice a significant decrease in movement or your baby is not moving like usual, don’t wait to reach out to your midwife or OB/GYN. Trust your instincts.

You know your baby best 💜

Many people assume midwives are only for “natural birth,” but that is a common misconception. Midwives support all kinds of birth experiences, including epidurals, inductions, hospital births, and even cesarean deliveries when needed.

At the heart of midwifery care is personalized support, education, and helping women make informed choices that feel right for them and their babies.

Whether you want an unmedicated birth or plan to use pain relief, the midwives at Women's Health Care are here to support you every step of the way 💜

Are you feeling a bit like a stranger in your own body lately? You aren’t losing your mind but you might be surprised to learn it could be the perimenopause 😮

Many women don't realize that perimenopause can actually begin 4 to 10 years before official menopause (which is when you've gone 12 full months without a period).

This means you could start noticing changes as early as your late 30s or early 40s.

Because hormones fluctuate wildly during this long transition, it can bring a whole rollercoaster of symptoms:

📉 Irregular periods: Cycles might get shorter, longer, heavier, lighter, or skip months entirely.

🔥 Hot flashes & night sweats: That sudden, intense wave of heat that leaves you reaching for a fan.

🌪️ Mood changes: Feeling unusually irritable, anxious, or experiencing sudden mood swings.

😴 Sleep issues: Struggling to fall asleep, stay asleep or waking up sweaty and exhausted.

💧Vaginal dryness: Decreased estrogen can cause tissue thinning and dryness, making s*x uncomfortable.

🧠 Brain fog: Forgetfulness, struggling to find a word, difficulty concentrating

Unfortunately, symptoms are frequently attributed to stress or lifestyle instead of the hormonal changes all women typically experience to some degree in the years leading up to menopause.

Because this transition can last for years, recognizing the signs early is the first step toward getting the right support 💜

You don't have to navigate this alone!

If you have concerns or want help for your perimenopause symptoms, make an appointment with one of our women’s health care providers. We’re here to help!
