This 10 year old has grown 3 inches and gained 3 lbs while actually looking leaner and less puffy. The biggest change-- better sleep and breathing!

When children sleep well, their bodies release important growth hormone during deep sleep cycles. This is when the body repairs tissues, supports healthy growth, regulates metabolism, and helps the brain and nervous system recover from the day.

But if a child is waking frequently, breathing poorly, mouth breathing, snoring, clenching, or struggling to stay in deeper stages of sleep, their body has a harder time doing all of that important overnight work.

I offer a free initial assessment so that you can learn more about myofunctional therapy and how it can help your child sleep better and grow to their fullest potential.

Dark circles under the eyes are often a visible sign that the body has been under strain at night.

When the airway is restricted, the body works harder to breathe during sleep. This means the rest your child is getting isn't as deep or restorative as it should be.

The root cause is worth investigating especially if those dark circles have been there for a while.

8 months into her myo journey, she notices she can floss where she couldn't before!

She also says:

"I'm waking up not feeling fatigued anymore- This was a big one! I always felt ready to go to sleep for the night, all day. I was depressed at bed time though because I felt like, what is the point, and now I dont feel that way because I am sleeping well!

I'm breathing through my nose at night now. I have a wider, straighter smile. My mouth feels more relaxed because I'm not clenching. I had been doing that without thinking and now have new habits!"

Is myofunctional therapy painful?

Nope!

Myofunctional therapy sessions involve learning and practicing simple muscle exercises for the tongue, lips, and face - exercises your child will repeat at home each day to build the habit.

Most kids actually enjoy the exercises once they get the hang of them.

Three signs that your child's sleep might be improving and what to look for as things change. 🎯

As myofunctional therapy progresses and breathing patterns shift, parents often notice changes before the child does.

First: mornings get easier. The child wakes up more naturally, with less resistance.

Second: behavior and focus improve during the day, less emotional reactivity, better attention at school.

Third: the snoring, grinding, or restless movement at night gradually reduces or disappears.

These changes don't happen overnight but they are measurable and real.

Drop a 🙋 in the comments if you've noticed any of these shifts.

A mouth guard doesn't stop teeth grinding, it just protects the teeth while the grinding continues. 🎯

The real question is why your child is grinding in the first place.

In many cases, the jaw is clenching and grinding at night because the airway is restricted and the body is instinctively trying to open it.

Covering the teeth doesn't address that.

Retraining the breathing and muscle function does and that's exactly what myofunctional therapy is designed to do.
