☀️ Learning Still Continues Through the Summer ☀️
Summer break doesn’t mean growth has to pause. In fact, some of the best learning opportunities happen outside of the classroom and discrete trial teaching.
At Old Town ABA, we encourage families to remember that learning can be naturally embedded into daily life — and contriving opportunities for growth can be easier than you think!
🌿 A trip to the grocery store can become a chance to practice communication, waiting, identifying items, making choices, and social skills.
🍦 Ordering ice cream can help build confidence, requesting, turn taking, and flexibility.
🏊 Pool days can support following directions, safety skills, transitions, and peer interaction.
🧺 Helping with laundry or cooking can encourage independence, sequencing, matching, and responsibility.
🚗 Even car rides can create opportunities for conversation, labeling, answering questions, and expanding language.
Learning does not always have to look like worksheets or structured table time. Some of the most meaningful progress comes from consistent, real-world practice in environments that feel fun, motivating, and natural to the individual. 🌈
As providers and caregivers, we can help “contrive” opportunities simply by slowing down, creating moments for communication, encouraging problem solving, and allowing individuals the space to participate actively in everyday routines.
✨ Small moments matter.
✨ Consistency matters.
✨ Connection matters.
This summer, focus on progress over perfection and remember that every outing, routine, and interaction can become an opportunity to learn, grow, and build independence.
At Old Town ABA, we love helping families incorporate therapeutic strategies into everyday life while keeping learning engaging, individualized, and meaningful.
