✅ Offer a warm, sweet drink if they are fully conscious.

👃 DAY 21: 100 DAYS OF FIRST AID 👃

Myth: Tilt your head back for a nosebleed. ❌
Reality: Lean FORWARD. ✅

Tilting back causes blood to run down the throat, which can lead to gagging or vomiting. Lean forward and pinch the soft part of the nose for at least 10 minutes. 🩸⏱️

Practical, common-sense first aid with Yatson Training. 🚑✨

That sudden "pop" on the netball court or footy field is every sports parent’s nightmare. 🏐🏈

In Albury/Wodonga, suspected ACL tears are a tough reality of winter sports. What you do in those first few minutes is critical for long-term recovery and getting back in the game.

Here is your sideline game plan:

✅ STOP IMMEDIATELY: Never let them "walk it off." Moving a damaged joint risks further trauma.
✅ R.I.C.E: Rest the limb, Ice for 20 mins (use a cloth barrier), firm Compression, and Elevate the knee.
✅ NO HEAT: Avoid heat packs or rubbing: this increases swelling.
✅ MEDICAL REVIEW: Seek professional assessment immediately.

Don't wait for an injury to build your confidence. Yatson Training provides practical, hands-on First Aid sessions tailored for local clubs. Lead trainer Jackie Hislop (Registered Nurse) makes training enjoyable, interactive, and easy to understand.

Keep your local team safe this season. 🛡️

Attention Albury/Wodonga tradies! 🏗️📦

Day 33: Crush Injuries – Why you shouldn't always remove the weight immediately.

If a mate is pinned by something heavy, your first instinct is to lift it off. But if they’ve been trapped for more than 15 minutes, that move could be fatal.

When a limb is crushed, blood flow stops and toxins build up. Lifting the weight too quickly after 15 minutes lets those toxins rush to the heart (Crush Syndrome), which can cause cardiac arrest.

What to do:
✅ Call 000 immediately.
✅ Tell the operator exactly how long they've been pinned.
✅ If it’s been >15 mins, leave the weight until paramedics arrive.
✅ Keep them warm: mornings are reaching 10°C in Albury lately! ❄️

Lead trainer Jackie Hislop (RN) makes these high-stakes scenarios easy to understand in our hands-on workplace sessions.

Day 33: Crush Injuries. 🏗️ In Albury-Wodonga's industrial sites, crush injuries are a real risk. If someone is trapped, call 000 immediately.

Crucial rule: If they’ve been crushed for more than 15 minutes, do NOT release the weight until medical help is on-site. Sudden release can cause dangerous toxins to enter the bloodstream (Crush Syndrome). 🛑

Is your AED just a wall ornament? 🖼️

It’s a crisp 17°C and a bit cloudy across Albury/Wodonga today: a sure sign that flu season and the colder months are well and truly here. As we spend more time indoors, ensuring your workplace safety gear is actually functional is vital.

In the rush of daily business, it’s easy for your life-saving equipment to blend into the background. But when was the last time you checked the AED battery? Are the pads still in date? Or has your first aid kit been raided for Band-Aids, leaving you short on essentials?

Jackie Hislop, our lead trainer and a Registered Nurse, knows that true safety goes beyond just ticking a compliance box. We help local businesses stay truly ready with professional kit audits and hands-on training sessions. Whether you need a CPR refresher or a full workplace session, we're here to help you act with confidence when it matters most.

Don't wait for an emergency to find out your equipment isn't ready.
