Frosty Albury-Wodonga mornings (around 4°C) mean busy netball and AFL sidelines, but cold joints can be vulnerable to sprains. ❄️

When the whistle blows, knowing what to do is vital. Jackie, our Lead Trainer and RN, recommends the R.I.C.E method:

✅ Rest: Stop play immediately to prevent further injury.
✅ Ice: Apply for 20 mins every 2 hours to reduce inflammation.
✅ Compression: Use a firm bandage, but always check for warmth and sensation in toes or fingers!
✅ Elevation: Raise the limb above the heart level.

Prevention tip: Dynamic warm-ups are a must when it’s this chilly! 🧣

Monday morning fog is back, Albury/Wodonga! 🌫️

If you're heading to the job site or the office this morning, visibility is the name of the game. With temperatures sitting around 4°C and heavy mist across the region, low-visibility starts to the week can be a bit of a challenge.

Our lead trainer, RN Jackie Hislop, reminds us all that staying calm and cautious is key when conditions get tricky. Here are two quick tips to keep your Monday moving safely:

✅ Lights on: Switch on your low-beam headlights to make sure you're visible to others from both the front and back. Don't rely on auto-lights alone in thick fog!
✅ Buffer zone: Double your following distance. It takes longer to react and stop when visibility is poor and the roads are damp.

At Yatson Training, we’re all about making workplace safety practical and easy to understand. Whether you're on the tools or in the office, your safety matters most when it matters most.

Stay safe and have a great week!

Stay safe out there, Albury/Wodonga! 🌧️

We’ve got a cold front and a northwest cloudband heading our way, with 10-20mm of rain expected today and tomorrow. RN Jackie has a few tips to make sure you stay on your feet (literally!):

📍 On the Road: Visibility is going to be low. Turn those lights on, slow down, and double your stopping distance. Better to arrive late than not at all!

📍 At Home: Take five minutes to clear your gutters and drains before the heavy stuff hits to avoid any nasty flooding.

📍 Watch Your Step: Jackie’s top tip: wet weather means a huge spike in slips and falls. Take extra care on local paths and stairs while they’re slick.

At Yatson Training, we’re all about keeping you prepared for when it matters most. If the rain leads to a mishap, having the right First Aid skills makes all the difference. Our sessions are hands-on, relaxed, and designed to give you real confidence.

Stay dry and look after each other!

It’s a bit of a soggy one out there, Albury/Wodonga! 🌧️

With rain periods and a mild 16°C, today is the perfect 'Wet Weekend' for some local footy and netball: but it’s also the perfect time to keep safety in mind.

Going to the sidelines? 🏟️
Watch those muddy patches! Slips and trips aren’t just for the players. Whether you’re cheering from the boundary or the court-side, keep your footing firm and look out for your mates.

Staying in to dodge the showers? 🏠
RN Jackie suggests using this time for a quick Home First Aid Kit audit. Is your kit dry, organised, and up to date? Checking your supplies now means you’re ready to act with confidence when it matters most.

Jackie’s tip: Keep your kit in a waterproof container and replace anything that’s expired or looking a bit damp.

At Yatson Training, we make safety interactive and enjoyable: never a dry, mandatory exercise!
