What is National Indigenous Peoples Day?
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.

Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.

In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Aboriginal Day, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

❤️Volunteer Appreciation - National Volunteer Week

Whether they are our medical practitioners, our logististicians, our mission/project leads and supporters or our fantastic volunteers on the ground in Benin, Uganda, Tanzania or the DRC, CACHA's volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation.

These past two years have been more difficult than most but our volunteers have continued to be there for us and for those in need. On behalf of the CACHA Board of Directors and office, THANK YOU you for all you do. You make what CACHA does matter!

❤️ Appréciation des bénévoles - Semaine nationale de l'action bénévole

Qu'il s'agisse de nos médecins, de nos assistants logistiques, de nos responsables de mission/projet et de nos sympathisants ou de nos fantastiques bénévoles sur le terrain au Bénin, en Ouganda, en Tanzanie ou en RDC, les bénévoles de l'ASCCA sont la pierre angulaire de notre organisation.

Ces deux dernières années ont été plus difficiles que la plupart, mais nos bénévoles ont continué à être là pour nous et pour ceux qui en ont besoin. Au nom du conseil d'administration et du bureau de l'ASCCA, MERCI pour tout ce que vous faites. Vous faites en sorte que l'ASCCA compte !

What a better way to celebrate than giving thanks and appreciation to the many volunteers and partners that make our CACHA missions so successful- and hearing from one of them! Today we are introducing Samwel Ogoya who is the maintenance director at Shirati hospital, and has been pivotal in our infrastructure projects over the years. Have a watch!
