Here’s something you might not have realized about your emotional eating: it can feel easier to focus on the physical feeling of fullness than the overwhelm of your emotions.

If this rings true for you, you don’t have to work through this all alone. Send me a message or use my contact form linked here and let’s work together: https://www.centreforemotionaleating.com/contact

Getting out of your comfort zone feels super uncomfortable. Not just spiralling thoughts, it can bring up physical sensations even when it is a change you want in your life. But getting through to the other side of this prickly process can feel oh so good! Here are my top tips to find some ease in this place you’re in:

Why does personal growth feel so uncomfortable? Learn how your nervous system responds to change, vulnerability, anxiety, and uncertainty — plus practical coping strategies to build confidence, reduce overwhelm, and navigate life transitions with more ease.

Often with clients, I can hear that they are harder on themselves than anyone else in their life. It is common for them to be giving 110% while expecting the minimum effort from others. Or when they succeed, they don’t celebrate and recognize their work, but move the goal posts further away to the next task.

If this sounds familiar, know that many women have these beliefs. But that doesn’t mean you have to keep living by them.

I challenge you to look at one thing you’ve done over the past week, no matter if you think it small, and pat yourself on the back! Journal about it, talk to a friend about it, even treat yourself to celebrate!

Where do your food rules come from? No eating after 7pm, carbs are “bad”, fruit has too much sugar, 1200 calories is enough, diet pop is terrible…

Once you can see that these rules don’t come from your own intuition it can be easier to challenge them. ✨You ✨ get to decide what feels best for your mind, body, and spirit! The more satisfied you are by the food you eat, the less likely you’ll be to binge.

Sending memes, smiling at a stranger, grabbing a quick coffee with a colleague, or small talk with someone in your workout class all can support your need for connection without it feeling overwhelming.

The food you chose to eat today does not make you “bad” or “guilty.” The words you use to describe your eating patterns can have a big impact on your mental health (and how you choose to eat the rest of the day).

Instead, try focusing on how the food makes you feel. Was that steak satisfying? Did the salad have a nice cool crunch? How refreshing was an ice cream cone?
