A lot of people have questions about their body they don’t feel safe asking.

Sometimes because:
❤️ They think they should already know
🧡 They don’t feel represented in traditional health conversations
💛 They’ve been misunderstood before
💚 They’re worried about being judged

They can sit on those questions for years. Sometimes until they can't anymore.

This month at Sephira Healing, we're talking about it openly.

Because breast and chest health isn’t just “women’s health.”
And you don’t have to explain your body to deserve care.

We put together a guide written for every body —
what’s normal, what to notice, and where to start.

Most Registered Massage Therapists graduate with strong training in the musculoskeletal system. Breast and chest tissue, however, is an area that many therapists receive very little instruction in. It’s an area that’s most often avoided.

As a result, people who are dealing with post-surgical recovery, lymphatic congestion, scar tissue, or chest wall tension often struggle to find a massage therapist who feels confident working in this area.

That gap in training can limit access to care that many people genuinely need.

I have spent nearly 30 years building specialization in breast and chest massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, and oncology-informed care. I have also spent years teaching other RMTs how to work in this area with confidence, competence, and clear consent practices.

If you are an RMT who would like to expand your practice into breast and chest care in a way that is ethical, skilled, and within scope, join the waiting list for my next class.

Perimenopause can stir up grief, anxiety, body memories, or experiences that were pushed down (and stored in your nervous system).

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based approach to trauma recovery that works with the nervous system directly. Instead of going back through every detail of the past, we slow down and notice the sensations, emotions, and responses that are showing up in your body in the present and give your nervous system the space it needs to settle.

I am a trained Somatic Experiencing practitioner, and I offer SE sessions at Sephira Healing as a standalone service.

If something is surfacing for you right now, I would be happy to sit with you in that and support you.

Chest binding is an important part of gender expression for many transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse people. And like any practice that affects body tissue over time, it’s important to know how to do it safely.

Here is what the chest needs when binding:
✅ Use a binder designed for the purpose — not bandages, tape, or multiple sports bras layered together
✅ Take the binder off for at least 8 hours a day, including overnight
✅ Do not bind during exercise or sleep
✅ Listen to your body — pain, numbness, shortness of breath, or skin irritation are signals to take a break
✅ If you notice persistent tightness, rib discomfort, or changes in the tissue beneath, those are worth getting assessed

Breast and chest massage therapy can support the tissue health of people who bind regularly — helping to ease tightness, support lymphatic flow, and keep the chest wall comfortable.

Sephira Healing is an inclusive practice. Trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people are welcome here — no explanation needed. 🌈

Every body is welcome. Link in bio.

Before her mastectomy, a client asked if we could create space to acknowledge what she was about to go through, and what she was moving toward. So we had a ceremony.

That hour remains one of the most meaningful experiences in my practice.

Ceremony sessions at Sephira Healing offer a trauma-aware, somatic space for people who are facing major breast or chest changes. Some people come before surgery. Others come afterward.

They’re designed to support you as a whole person during a time that can carry many emotions and transitions.

This type of ceremony care is something I have not seen offered elsewhere in Saskatoon. If it resonates for you, or for someone you care about, I would be honoured to hold that space.

When you’re diagnosed with any kind of cancer, the scariest thing is having it spread.

Breast and chest massage therapy in a cancer context isn’t the same as a general massage. It’s specialized care that is done slowly, with clear consent, by a practitioner who understands oncology massage and how to work safely with breast and chest tissue.

It will not cause the breast cancer to spread.

In fact, for people in treatment or recovery, oncology-informed massage therapy can:
✅ Support lymphatic flow and reduce swelling
✅ Help soften scar tissue and restore range of movement
✅ Ease tension and discomfort in the chest wall
✅ Help people reconnect with a part of their body

I have been doing this work for nearly 30 years. If you have questions, I am happy to answer them.

Share this with someone who has been wondering. 🤍

If you have had breast or chest surgery and the area still feels tight, restricted, or uncomfortable months later, it’s not something you just have to live with.

Here is what is happening.

When your body heals a wound, it lays down collagen quickly to close the injury. That early scar tissue is dense and disorganized. Over time your body continues remodeling it — but without support, scar tissue can become adhered to nearby structures, pull on surrounding tissue, and limit range of movement.

This is especially common after mastectomy, lumpectomy, breast reconstruction, chest surgery, and radiation.

The good news is that with the right technique and timing, scar tissue responds well to specialized massage therapy. It can help soften the tissue, improve circulation, and restore movement.

If you are a healthcare provider working with post-surgical patients — this is the referral you have been looking for. 👩‍⚕️
