🌿 Listening to the Body's Wisdom 🌿

We spend much of our lives listening to clocks, calendars, notifications and other people's expectations.

But our bodies are communicating with us all the time.

Through our breath.
Through our energy levels.
Through tension and ease.
Through the way we feel when we wake up in the morning or move throughout the day.

This week, we'll explore what happens when we slow down enough to listen.

Yoga isn't about forcing the body into shapes or pushing through discomfort. It's about developing awareness and learning to work with ourselves rather than against ourselves.

The more we learn to listen, the more we begin to recognise that our bodies hold a great deal of wisdom. Often, they are quietly telling us when we need rest, when we need movement, when we need support, and when we are stronger than we realise.

What you'll need:
• A yoga mat or comfortable floor space
• A blanket
• A cushion or pillow
• One or two yoga blocks (or thick books)

Do you ever notice that some days you feel full of energy, while on others everything feels a little slower?

Many of us spend our lives trying to push through tiredness or create more energy.

Yet nature doesn’t work that way.

The seasons change.
The weather changes.
Day becomes night.

Our bodies have natural rhythms too.

This week in my online yoga classes, we’re exploring how to work with our energy rather than constantly pushing against it.

Through gentle movement, breath awareness and mindful practice, we’ll explore what happens when we pause, listen and respond to what we need in the moment.

Hi, I'm Niki.

I've been practising yoga for over 30 years and teaching for 15. My classes are gentle, supportive and designed to help you feel stronger, more mobile and more at ease in your body - without pressure or perfection.

Thank you for practising with me this week 💚🌿

This week’s theme has been Walking as Meditation - exploring how slowing down, noticing the breath, and reconnecting with the body through movement can help us feel more grounded and present.

I think many of us rush through life so quickly that we forget simple things - like walking, breathing, or feeling our feet on the ground - can become calming practices in themselves.

I’ve uploaded this week’s Wellbeing Wednesday session if you’d like a gentle practice for the Bank Holiday weekend ✨

Do you ever go for a walk to clear your mind… and realise afterwards that you feel completely different? 🌿

This week in yoga, we’re exploring the idea of Walking as Meditation.

Not needing to “switch off” your thoughts perfectly.
Not needing hours of silence on a mountain top.
Just gently coming back to the body, the breath, and the feeling of your feet meeting the ground.

In our classes this week, we’ll focus on grounding, balance and mindful movement - noticing how slowing down, even a little, can help us feel calmer and more connected.

Sometimes meditation begins with something as simple as:
✨ noticing your steps
✨ feeling the earth beneath you
✨ taking one slower breath

And as always, you do not need to be flexible or experienced to join. Wobbly balance and busy minds are both very welcome here 💚

Thank you for practising with me this week 💚

This week’s theme was practising in tune with nature - noticing that our bodies and minds are not separate from the natural world around us.

Some days we feel energised and open.
Some days we feel slower, heavier or in need of more rest.

Yoga doesn’t have to look the same every day.

Sometimes the practice is movement.
Sometimes it’s breath.
Sometimes it’s simply listening.

Thank you for sharing part of your week with me, whether you joined live, practised at home, or simply paused for a deeper breath along the way 🌿

This week’s focus has been on gentle twists to help create space in the body.

Here’s a simple one you can come back to - nothing forced, just a soft rotation through the spine.
