We’ve become very good at monitoring birth. But have we forgotten how to support it?

A Cochrane review involving over 15,000 women found that continuous labour support was associated with 25% fewer caesarean births, more spontaneous vaginal births and fewer negative birth experiences.

Yet in modern maternity care, continuous support can feel like a luxury rather than a priority right now.

Monitoring has its place…But so does trust, privacy, continuity and protecting the physiology of birth.

The evidence is clear: support isn’t an optional extra. It’s part of safe maternity care.

Life lately…

🫧 Our newborn bubble has been popped 🫧
Mostly due to the relentless school runs 😆

But I’ve been doing more gradually work wise and trying to find a balance! There are a few things I’ve been working on for a while now and I’m juggling a lot like all mums.

FYI - Monroe had just had a feed, hence she’s a little lower than usual in the sling, I’ve truly mastered the art of feeding in the sling/carrier. It’s not recommended by NHS but it works for us, I’ve made my own informed choice and I pay very close attention to airway safety.

I was grateful to be invited to breakfast with Vogue and the lovely team Seraphine NEXT the range is beautiful and I’ve been loving the maternity bras especially. Clips down super fast and the material is buttery soft

Monnie moo 💕 she is very happy to be out and about, especially if she’s on me and has b**b pronto. She smiles at everyone and is taking it all in. She’s just started to try involving herself conversation too. Her little legs go and she squeals at whoever gives her attention. Too cute 💕

I had a very exciting broadcast day! We did 10 media interviews back to back. We were discussing research undertaken by MAM BABY UK , they found just 3% of parents felt as though they could trust their instincts and 5% were able to stay calm when their baby was crying. It’s not surprising to find but it’s extremely important we talk about the issues of modern day parenting and how more information doesn’t equate to more confidence.

I loved it and Monroe slept through 80% of it 😆

We were kindly gifted these delicious meals by the two mums behind LUNE & WILD the kids LOVED the blueberry muffins. Demolished in minutes and we are working our way through the meals. It’s so helpful to have them stocked in the fridge/freezer. A lot less to think about as it’s not Keite cooking it’s getting the ingredients, shopping and then cooking. I struggle to find time to do it all. They currently have 20% off ❤️

The light in her eyes, she brightens up my day. I can’t imagine life without her now. Our bond just keeps growing and she deeply trusts me. What a privilege that is. I’m SO lucky 🥹💕

❤️Life lately
Monroe has been concisely coming off the b**b to chat and smile. I forgot about how cute this phase is. I’m tired all the time but also, so in love!

Hide & Seek Soft Play in Loughton has saved my life. Having a newborn and 3 year old to entertain is no joke, but they do good food and coffee so we’ve plotted up many times and ticked all our boxes 😆

Contact naps…Monroe only wants to contact nap. It is hard work and there are times where I need to get on with stuff but she’s my last baby and this won’t last forever. So I am embracing the sleepy snuggles and trying to keep a slower pace of life.

I don’t really like Halloween but what kid doesn’t love dress up?

The evening fussiness has really reduced now. I’m actually able to sit down with her and enjoy time with the other two in the evening. Those evenings are so exhausting. Having to rock and shhhh but glad we got to the root cause of Monroes issues and she’s virtually stopped crying - unless she’s hungry or overtired. Phew!
