Happy 99th Birthday, Betty! 💐❤️

Our lovely Orchard House resident, Betty, celebrated her 99th birthday on 17th August! 🎂🎉 Betty was absolutely delighted with her surprise birthday cake and enjoyed her special day surrounded by everyone at the home. ❤️

We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful milestone with her, and we’re already looking forward to an even bigger celebration next year for her 100th birthday! 🥳🎈🎉

Fantastic Summer Fayre at Orchard House! 🌞

We had a fantastic Summer Fayre at Orchard House on Saturday, and we were so lucky to have such beautiful weather! ☀️

It was wonderful to see so many of our residents’ families, friends and visitors joining us and making the day so special. Our residents and staff had a fantastic time, with lots of laughter, fun and happy memories made together. ❤️

We enjoyed raffles, games, delicious food and drinks, while the children had a wonderful time on the bouncy castle! 🎈🎟️🍔

A huge thank you to all our families, friends and visitors for coming along and supporting our Summer Fayre. Your presence and support mean so much to us.

We would also like to say a very special thank you to Galexa Pharmacy, CHS – Complete Hygiene Solution, and to all the families who kindly donated items for our raffle. Your generosity helped make our event such a great success. 🙏❤️

Deadly Arrows!......

Yesterday at Orchard House, we had a fun and enjoyable darts competition between the residents and staff. Everyone took part with great enthusiasm, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere.

The residents had a wonderful time and shared lots of laughter and smiles throughout the activity. It was lovely to see residents and staff enjoying the competition together and supporting one another.

The activity helped to create a happier and more positive environment, encouraging social interaction and building stronger relationships between residents and staff. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, and it was a great opportunity for residents to have fun, stay active and feel involved.

Will you be watching the Eclipse?

Across Ruddington, and certainly here at Orchard House, people will be stopping around 7pm tonight to watch the solar eclipse. If you are one of those people, then please remember not to look directly at the Sun without the proper eyeglasses. Sunglasses are not sufficient protection, but there are still ways you can see the eclipse safely. One of the best ways is to use a Colander. Simply stand with your back to the Sun and let the light shine through the colander onto a piece of paper - you will see loads of eclipse images. Eclipses don't come round very often, so it's definitely worth seeing. Have fun, but stay safe - see our graphic below for some advice.

Fun in the Sun!......

We had a fantastic Carnival show last week, and it was wonderful to welcome family members who came to witness how we make our residents feel special, valued, and cared for.

A big thank you to all the staff who participated, made the effort to dress up, and helped create such a fun and memorable event. Special thanks to Kevin and Marie for delivering an amazing show and bringing so much joy to our residents and their families. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and great memories. We look forward to seeing you all at our next surprise event!

Save the Date!!

Orchard will be holding its Summer Fair on Saturday, 15th August, starting at 1.30pm. There will be some great food and drink available, music and games, entertainment....in fact, something for everyone. We would love to see as many family and friends as possible on the day - everyone is welcome. So put the date in your diary, and we will try to make sure the sun keeps shining!

Re-living our youth!

We had a lovely 60s-themed party in our beautiful garden recently and were fortunate to enjoy fantastic weather. Some of our staff members, along with the manager at Orchard House, dressed up in 60s fancy dress costumes to bring smiles to our residents’ faces.

The garden was filled with music, laughter, and wonderful memories as everyone joined in the celebrations. Residents enjoyed singing along to classic 60s hits, dancing, and spending time with friends and staff. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces and everyone embracing the spirit of the day. The event created a warm and joyful atmosphere, making it a truly special afternoon for all who attended. We look forward to creating many more happy memories together.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at Orchard House. 🎶

Our residents and staff enjoyed a lively afternoon of singing, dancing and plenty of smiles with the talented Hannah, alongside our new Activities Coordinator, Angela.

The tambourines were definitely a big hit, with lots of residents joining in, keeping the rhythm and enjoying the music together. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, from singing along to tapping their feet, clapping and sharing a few dances too.

A big thank you to Hannah for bringing such lovely energy to the home, and to Angela for helping make the afternoon so enjoyable. Moments like these really do bring everyone together, and it was lovely to see the room filled with music, laughter and happiness.

We’re already looking forward to many more afternoons like this. 💛

Art at Orchard.....

The lovely residents of Orchard House enjoyed a relaxing and creative painting session this week. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon expressing their creativity through painting. Everyone engaged really well with the session and had a fantastic time creating some beautiful artwork.

Fancy a beer?....

Well, the lovely residents of Orchard House did, and so they soaked up the sunshine at the annual Ruddington Beer Festival, enjoying beer, cider, live music, and the relaxed summer atmosphere as crowds gathered on The Green for “Ruddfest” — the village’s popular beer, food, and music celebration. The event is known for its wide selection of beers and ciders alongside family-friendly entertainment and outdoor seating in the sun. It was a lovely trip out for everyone, made all the better by the fab weather!
