Always a treat!....

Afternoon Tea is a bit of a British institution...and deservedly so, as it's so yummy! Residents here at St Peter's licked their lips and got their napkins ready last week as they were treated to a fab spread of sandwiches, cakes, and all washed down with a refreshing cuppa! There were lots of happy faces and numerous requests for the whole thing to be repeated every week!

St Peter's residents always enjoy playing games. So when Waley's Darts came to visit the home recently there were a lot of willing competitors. It's a great game for hand eye coordination, helping fine motor skills, and, most importantly, it's a lot of fun.

Cooking up a storm........

Our lovely residents at St Peter's have been enjoying getting creative in the kitchen over the past week. Pizzas have been on the menu, and residents were asked to create their own toppings. There were some fab creations, and as can be seen from the pics, they all looked incredibly tasty. Needless to say, they didn't last long!

St Peter's theme days are fast becoming a resident favourite in the home. Following on from the success of our Wedding Day, we held a beach holiday day. There was a lovely art session where everyone painted shells, alongside talking about their favourite beach holidays in the past. Very relaxing and calming, and a great way of engaging everyone in a much loved topic.

Themed days at St Peter's....

Every week, St. Peter's is holding a themed morning in the bistro. This week we decided weddings were the theme. Residents brought their wedding photos along and reminisced about their wedding days. One clear memory everyone had was the drinking of champagne or glasses of fizz! So, of course, we had to share memories over a glass of Buck's Fizz!

Welcoming Writer's to St Peter's

It was a pleasure this week to welcome author Bemma Akyeampong to St Peter's. She enthralled our residents by reading a book all about animals in Africa. She also performed by singing and then led an African drawing session. It was a really fun and educational activity which the residents thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you, Bemma, for being such an inspiring visitor to the home.

What a show!

No Summer would be complete without a great Summer Show, and that's just what was provided for the residents of St Peter's by wonderful local entertainers, Kevin and Marie. Fabulous costumes and characters, great songs, and as always, their connection with the audience was fantastic. It's a joy to welcome them to the home. Everyone who attended had a really fun time and can't wait for their next appearance in the home.

Will you be watching the Eclipse?

Across Ruddington, people will be stopping around 7pm tonight to watch the solar eclipse If you are one of those people, then please remember not to look directly at the Sun without the proper eyeglasses. Sunglasses are not sufficient protection, but there are still ways you can see the eclipse safely. One of the best ways is to use a Colander. Simply stand with your back to the Sun and let the light shine through the colander onto a piece of paper - you will see loads of eclipse images. Eclipses don't come round very often, so it's definitely worth seeing. Have fun, but stay safe - see our graphic below for some advice.

A lovely trip out!

Our lovely St Peter's resident, Margaret, had a lovely walk to Rushcliffe Country Park today. The park is one of the best in the country, and won its first Green Flag Award in 2007 and has continued this success every year since. This is a sure sign that the park is well-maintained and well-managed, with excellent facilities, and is certainly a lovely place for a trip out, as Margaret would agree. The lake in the sunshine looked lovely, and it was the perfect place to sit and bask in the warm weather.

We encourage all our residents to take trips out as often as possible, and as a Ruddington home, we are blessed with some great local choices.
