My life changed FOR THE BETTER when I started doing these things at 50…
1. Strength training 3–4x a week.Lifting heavy is SO important for midlife women, and when I turned 50, I completely changed the way I worked out. Gone are the days of endless cardio. Now, I prioritize strength training, and when it starts feeling too easy, I lift heavier. It makes me feel strong, capable, and confident.
2. Eating MORE.The days of starving yourself and exercising more are over. And the craziest thing happened when I actually started fueling my body properly… I lost weight. Instead of constantly eating less, I focus on giving my body what it needs, especially protein, fiber, and healthy fats at every meal.
3. Water first thing in the morning. It’s automatic for me now. Before coffee, before breakfast, before anything else, I drink water. It’s such a small habit, but it sets me up to feel better for the rest of my day.
4. Valuing rest and recovery.I used to have such a hard time letting myself rest. Now I understand that recovery is PART of taking care of my body, not the opposite of it. I can’t expect my body to thrive if I’m constantly stressed and running around like I’m being chased by a bear 😂 My muscles need time to repair, and my mind needs a break too.
5. Letting go of perfectionism. At 50, I finally realized that “perfect” doesn’t exist. I started looking at everything I had already accomplished and thought… wait, this is actually pretty awesome. Instead of constantly stressing about what’s next or what could be better, I’m learning to appreciate what’s right in front of me.
Turning 50 didn’t make me want to become who I used to be. It made me want to take better care of the woman I am now. 🤍
