The No. 1 lesson Dolly Parton taught me about success: One person can make a difference." That's the message Cincinnati Children's literacy program manager Kristy High shared in a recent CNBC article reflecting on the impact of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

We've seen firsthand how a simple act, delivering a free book each month, can spark curiosity, strengthen family bonds, and support healthy development. Through Kristy's work bringing the Imagination Library to families across Hamilton County, we're helping children discover the joy of reading and the possibilities that come with it.

As we reflect on Dolly Parton's remarkable legacy, we're reminded that meaningful change starts with showing up, investing in children, and believing that one person can make a difference. ❤️📚

Ben’s active, curious, and energetic personality has always driven him to explore the world around him. But everyday tasks like tying his shoes, brushing his teeth, and other motor skills often left him frustrated. After years of physical therapy, Ben received a diagnosis of developmental coordination disorder (DCD), a neurodevelopmental condition that affects motor planning and coordination.

Today, Ben creates his own motor-planning strategies for everyday activities, using video game characters and themes to help him remember movement sequences. Read about his journey and how he navigates life with DCD in this week’s : https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/service/o/ot-pt/patient-stories/ben-dcd

Newborn breathing can sometimes look a little alarming. Babies may breathe faster for a few moments, slow down or briefly pause — a pattern known as periodic breathing.

In many newborns, this can be a normal part of adjusting to life outside the womb. But if breathing changes are accompanied by other symptoms, such as changes in skin color or difficulty feeding, it’s important to contact your child’s health care provider.

Today, we join millions across the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton.

While many knew Dolly as a beloved entertainer, we knew her as a champion for children. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she sparked a love of reading and learning for generations of young children and their families.

Since 2015, the Imagination Library at Cincinnati Children's has enrolled more than 32,000 children across Hamilton County and mailed more than 2 million books directly to children's homes. Every book represented an opportunity for a parent to read with a child, a child's imagination to grow and a family's bond to strengthen.

Dolly believed that every child deserves access to books, regardless of their circumstances. Her vision transformed lives in our community and around the world, and her legacy will continue each time a child opens a book and discovers the joy of reading.

Thank you, Dolly, for reminding us that changing the world can start with something as simple and powerful as a book.
