It’s been a day and it’s not even noon. 🥴

Having some tests run that have been scheduled for months. Chemo might have wiped out one of Maxson’s growth hormones so we will learn more after this round of tests. Hopefully he’s good. 🙏

Our day started being startled awake with a fire alarm at our hotel. Talk about panicked. Luckily it was a false alarm and only lasted a minute. But then we got to the hospital and as Max was being prepped for his IV there was an ACTUAL fire alarm and we had to evacuate the building. That was a first. 😳🫣 I’m starting to wonder if we are the problem.

One more appointment this afternoon to get his port flushed and then we can head home. And one last thing…almost afraid to put this out into the universe, but leaning into faith and saying it out loud for everyone to hear. If all goes as planned…if there are no hiccups…if things stay stable…for the FIRST TIME SINCE diagnosis in August 2023, Max only has **ONE MEDICAL APPOINTMENT** in July. Y’all have no idea how big this is for him. For our family. For our mental state. For our lives. We are prayerfully, gratefully hopeful. Pray with us that this is the path forward. 💙🙏💛

What a day for this kid! Being the sports nut he is, and an avid University of Louisville fan to boot, spending the afternoon with the UofL football team and Coach Brohm was pretty cool. He wanted three specific autographs (checkmarks to all three) and grinned ear to ear for three hours. Thank you Kosair for Kids for making this kiddo’s day!

For the last five months, we’ve been undergoing a home renovation with the goal of giving Max as much independence as possible. In a Cape Cod-style house — and a wheelchair-bound teenage boy whose bed&bathroom were formerly upstairs — there was so much to figure out and a lot of work to be done.

With **amazing** support and help led by The Molly Johnson Foundation, as well as assistance from the team at Lisa Lynn Design Services, LLC, we are doubling the size of Max’s bedroom area, converting another bedroom to a den/study (or as he likes to call it, his “dude room”) and adding a fully accessible bathroom with all the bells and whistles. We’re also updating some outside spaces to be more accessible, making the ramp safer and more weather resistant, and covering the entryway. These new spaces are truly going to change Max’s life. Those are not words I use lightly.

We’re in the home stretch of this massive project, and this week, an incredible group of volunteers from the Texas Roadhouse Support Center came out and spent two days painting, landscaping, demo-ing and just chipping in wherever help was needed. They gave freely of their time, energy, and resources, too, contributing a sizable donation to help us with the cost. They were such a huge help in so many ways.

We were already big fans, and we eat there quite often (Max loves their ribs and their grilled chicken salad can’t be beat) but our love for ❤️TXRH❤️ has grown stronger these last two days. If you ever wonder which corporations are truly supporting their local communities, let these photos speak for themselves. These kind folks busted their butts and were so great with Max. Thank you Texas Roadhouse!!!

Mama & Max day at the hospital…and it’s kind of a big one. Assuming all goes well🤞🙏 this kiddo is getting his LAST Avastin spinal cord infusion today. After 25 months of them…

His MRI two weeks ago looked good, and symptomatically his body has been stable. This medication can have terrible side effects, and Max has already been on it longer than most kids usually are, so it’s time. We’ve been working toward this day for months, slowly weaning both the dose and the timing in the hope his body can stay stable. Ironic he chose this shirt for today? 😊🦥 Because we definitely haven’t hurried this process along. 😉

So today and in the coming weeks and months that’s our prayer — that his body can learn to function without this medication. We are choosing to celebrate this as a victory. I especially am trying to remember to lean in to what’s right in front of me, to trust in who and what I cannot see, and to have faith over fear. This is the next step and a new chapter. Willing only good things for summer 2026. This kid is due a good one!!! 💙🙏💛
