Morning coffee not even touching your exhaustion. Here's why — and what to do instead.

Stimulants cannot fix depletion. When stress hormones have been running at elevated levels for a long time, they exhaust the adrenal glands. More stimulation adds more demand to an already depleted system.

And here's what makes it harder: adrenaline has a dopamine component — which means we can become genuinely addicted to the stress cycle, reaching for that momentary hormone high. The crash that follows deepens the depletion every time.

Community is not a "nice-to-have."

It is a healing necessity.

I know this in a new way since relocating to East Tennessee at 58. Leaving forty years of friendships in Southern California was one of the hardest parts of a season that had many hard parts.

And what I’ve discovered is this:

Community doesn’t require geography. It requires genuine connection.

The women in Peaceful Pathways who show up every week from different states, different backgrounds, different chapters — they are proof of that.

Our nervous systems regulate in the presence of people who are safe. Our healing deepens when it’s witnessed. Our courage grows when it’s shared.
