🏃‍♀️Pregnant and wondering how much exercise is enough?🏃‍♀️

For most healthy pregnancies, ACOG recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week. Walking, swimming and modified yoga are all great ways to keep moving.

Every pregnancy is different, so check with your Heartland Women's Group provider before beginning a new routine. Give us a call for an appointment: 316-246-2219.

💗Breastfeeding may be natural, but that doesn’t mean it always comes naturally. 💗

The early weeks can bring questions about latch, milk supply and whether your baby is getting enough. Add sleepless nights and a changing routine, and stress can quickly join the feeding session, too.

For World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month, learn how stress may affect milk flow and discover simple ways to care for yourself while feeding your baby: https://www.wesleymc.com/healthy-living/blog/how-stress-affects-milk-supply-and-how-to-manage-it

Be patient with yourself, accept help when it’s offered and reach out to your provider or a lactation consultant when you need additional support.

Swimsuits, sweat and summer heat can sometimes lead to discomfort in sensitive areas. ☀️

A few simple habits can help prevent irritation: change out of wet swimsuits and workout clothes promptly, choose breathable clothing and skip scented washes, sprays and other products around the vaginal area.

Persistent itching, burning, unusual discharge or odor? Instead of guessing or self-treating, give us a call for an appointment to discuss: 316-858-7100.

☀Hot summer days can be uncomfortable for anyone — but pregnancy can make it even harder for your body to handle the heat.☀

If you’re pregnant, take extra care on high-temperature days: drink plenty of water, rest in air-conditioned spaces when you can, avoid the hottest parts of the day and pay attention to warning signs like dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps or feeling faint.

A little planning can help you stay safer and more comfortable all summer long.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of new sensations, and not every ache or pain means something is wrong. As your body changes, symptoms like back pain, pelvic pressure, leg cramps, mild cramping or round ligament pain can be common.

But you should always call your provider if pain is severe, getting worse or comes with symptoms like bleeding, fever, dizziness, vision changes, swelling, high blood pressure or decreased fetal movement.

At Heartland Women’s Group, we’re here to help you sort through what’s expected, what needs attention and when it’s time to be seen.
