At Access Cardiology, we provide bulk-billed echocardiograms across all 10 of our locations for Medicare-eligible patients with a valid referral.

An echocardiogram (or echo) is a safe, non-invasive heart ultrasound that uses sound waves to create moving images of your heart. It helps assess how well your heart is pumping, the structure and function of your heart chambers and valves, and blood flow through the heart.

Your doctor may refer you for an echocardiogram to investigate symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest discomfort or fatigue, or to assess and monitor an existing heart condition.

Do you know your blood pressure?

Nearly 4 in 10 Australian adults have high blood pressure, and because it often has no obvious symptoms, many people may not realise their blood pressure is high.

A simple blood pressure check can help you keep track of this important part of your heart health. You can have your blood pressure checked by a doctor, nurse or pharmacist, or monitor it at home using a validated device.

Looking after your heart doesn't have to mean changing everything overnight.

Small, realistic habits are often the ones that last. Whether it's taking a short walk before dinner, drinking more water or adding an extra serve of vegetables to your meal, every positive choice counts.

Remember to be kind to yourself along the way.

Your heart will thank you. ❤️

💙 This Men’s Health Week, we’re recognising the importance of prioritising the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of men and boys.

This year’s Australian theme, “See a GP”, highlights the importance of seeking medical advice early if something doesn’t feel right, whether it’s your physical health, mental health or emotional wellbeing.

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in men, yet many risk factors can be identified and managed early through regular check-ups, healthy lifestyle choices and early intervention.

Men are statistically more likely to develop heart disease and experience heart attacks at a younger age, often due to delayed check-ups, unmanaged stress and lifestyle factors.

This week is a reminder to:
✔️ Book a health check
✔️ Know your blood pressure and cholesterol
✔️ Stay active
✔️ Eat well
✔️ Talk openly about your mental health
✔️ Support a mate who may be struggling

Looking after your health is one of the most important investments you can make, for yourself and for those around you.

🩺 A Sonographer's Perspective

Every echocardiogram tells a story.

For Teresa, one of the most rewarding aspects of cardiac sonography is bringing together information from the referral, the patient and the images obtained during the scan to support a comprehensive cardiac assessment.

At Access Cardiology, we offer bulk-billed echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms and a range of other cardiac testing services for eligible patients with a valid referral.

❤️ World Heart Rhythm Week 2026

This week shines a spotlight on arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms) and the importance of awareness, early detection and personalised care.

This year's theme, Your Heart, Your Rhythm, Your Story, reminds us that every heart rhythm journey is different. Symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and recovery can vary from person to person.

By sharing experiences and listening to patient stories, we can help improve understanding, raise awareness and support better outcomes for those living with heart rhythm disorders.
